Mine would be: I skip most openings and endings, like 95%. Very rarely do I stick through one.
Its time to confess. Whats yours? Have no shame in your game! Give up your secrets.
Mhmm let's see ..
I'm a firm advocate for JoJo part skipping
— in some parts like p4 , p5 , p7 , p8 and p9 you can still enjoy them as standalone seasons. I started with part 4 and got hooked in the series, that's why I recommend to new fans intimidated by JJBA early seasons to just start with whatever season interests you.
Code Geass and JoJo Steel Ball Run are two of the most overrated series I've ever gotten into with the loudest fandom preaching their quality. ReZero Arc 6 is also not that good imo, at least the novel's pacing was just plain atrocious. I like all 3 of these but still highly overrated by their fans.
One Piece actually sucks lol and I'm saying that as a fan.
Ironically enough, One Piece never had good world building.
Oh and also. I got used to watching in 2x speed.
The me from 1 year ago would've got mad just from hearing it.
But after a year of preparing for entrance exams, listening to lectures in 2x-3x to save time, mult-tasking my way through, I've reached this point where i can't stop the urge to click the "10sec-skip" button. i do not want to watch it any higher than 1x so I have paused watching anime and just sticked to manga and VN, but I do know the next anime I'll watch would definitely not be in 1x anymore..
Alright the anime community is going to want to murder me and my family for saying this but I'll answer
I cannot enjoy Code Geass, Chainsaw Man and Madoka Magica no matter how hard I try and force myself to like them, I don't think any of these anime are inherently bad whatsoever I just don't like them.
I have very complicated opinions on Hunter x Hunter(2011) and Jujutsu Kaisen, unlike the aforementioned anime above I don't outright dislike them but I don't enjoy these two either.
I lost interest in Attack on Titan as a series after the narrative in the story changed after the "Basement Reveal"
I enjoy most filler episodes as filler episodes create the opportunity to have fun and creative freedom in anime without changing the actual story of the anime because filler episodes aren't canon and therefore don't matter. Want to have fun making your own stories with characters in an anime or create funny or wholesome moments with characters? Sure filler episodes, don't like extra content related to your favorite anime? Just skip it.
Due to the fact I refuse to drop anime and want to explore all anime out there (I watch virtually everything except H-anime, music videos, Chinese/Korean animation etc.) if I'm getting really sick and tired of an anime and it's very bad or forgettable quality and I just want it to end already I might consider watching it sped up to some extent if I'm planning on giving it a 1-star anyways. I don't watch anime that I'm actually enjoying sped up, why would I want to ruin the quality of something I actually like?
@Toxecroak @Mattymatrix
Agreed, Code Geass was a slog. I love mecha and some drama, I finished all of it, but outside of some key parts it was draining.
@Toxecroak
I'm a firm believer in midsawman. I read the entire manga when it first came, it was ok, nothing special. I really don't understand the hype.
im latina and i havent seen dragon ball yet...oops. feels like a sin for sure
xD that's a hilarious one
I’ve since started watching it! I love my goat Oolong!
glad you're enjoying it ahh that makes me so happy! should I watch it?!?! I'll follow you, you seem so nice!
Yeah it’s fun I recommend it!
This is the order I was told to watch in
Also I’ll follow back you seem cool!
My biggest sin is I do this thing where for a lot of anime, I watch until there's like 2 or so episodes left and then I just never finish (please don't look at my paused/dropped list...) I have some kind of anime finishing anxiety? I am either sad it's going to end so if I don't watch it then it can't end, OR, I am worried it's going to be bad/sad so if I don't watch it...I can't be disappointed.
(Also omg all the Code Geass hot takes....let me in!!!!!
My hot take as someone that rated Code Gayass a 10/10 is that if you didn't watch it while it was airing with yaoi pilled goggles, it should be a 5/10, let's be so real here guys. Who even actually cares about any relationship in Geass other than the toxic friends (to lovers) to enemies Lelouch/Suzaku plot? shrugs)
this hits close to home, always find myself pausing at ep 8-10.
with code geass I wore mecha glasses
and might be related to your first point but for whatever reason I still haven't started the new resurrections one, even though I remember really looking forward to it when it was still in the rumor mill
for starters ive seen almost everything out (as im 89', almost 40 yrs old and immersed in anime for around 2 decades), atm jobless (but saddly...still not reincarnated ;p), few yrs ago i was diagnosed with brain tumor....gone trough 3 brain operations.....last one ended with 1month coma, somehow got back to work after around 1yr off and lost it after another year (cause off epillepsy, haD 4 "attacks" while workin in huge polish alluminium rims factory "ronal", theyve said its dangerous 4 me and ive got fired (in short they've sent me to additional health check-ups, etc. it didnt work as no1 would "stamp it" anymore XD) atm im on the leave till last of march, need to find new work....as im staying at home and "gettin bigger'(thats my "redeeming" feature...eating/drinking XD tbh ive grown from almost 90kg to over 100/110....you could say im fatass but who wouldnt turn into "devourer" after coma not eating 4 1month...under iv only xD)"....and sorry 4 whinning like that...but that's my story...last 3-4 yrs of my life in total xD
i will speed watch a series if i feels like the series idiotic or just slop.
if a forget to watch new episode of an airing anime would only catch if its interesting for me if not it would rot in watchlist at least for year until a remove it or i complete it
i still can't understand what's so good in one piece even though i have watch 400+ episodes. i admit that there were some moments i was amazed but rather than that it's just a long running generic anime to me. i think the pacing is the problem because when i watched amazon lily arc in onepace version it felt right and wrong at the same time.
I don't really like Ghibli movies, and I used Naruto to help me fall asleep because I found it to be so boring
I'll definitely give it another chance... through the manga at least
Friends and I did a weekly Ghibli watch party a couple years ago. We didn't get through all of them; think we got as far as "Howl's Moving Castle." And honestly? I only really enjoyed a handful. The rest were OK at best.
For example, "My Neighbor Totoro," which I know a lot of people love, just isn't for me. It's a cute story, I guess, but that's not what I'm into.
Having seen enough of the movies now, I would not call myself a Studio Ghibli fan.
When I was a teenager I would binge anything that looked remotely okay on batoto to fill the void of boredom after studying because I was a very sheltered child, not really allowed to go out much. So I've read a ton of trash manga because of it. Anime, I was more picky about because I read faster than anime plays. My anime sin is basically the same as yours though, I skip openings and endings to save time.
I dropped Berserk after Miura died. Fans called this a cynical take from the SkullKast but they were right in that you can't tell someone else's story, write their dialogue and draw their art the same way you may be able to play music by reading from someone else's music sheet.
I found Steins;Gate and Stardust Crusaders boring and their admittedly good final acts weren't worth the chore of getting there. As an otherwise big JoJo fan I feel a tad guilty shitting on part 3 but that's my genuine opinion.
I'd be fine with ending Dragon Ball midway through the Buu saga and Super not existing at all.
I used to rant about Naruto turning into not only a bad series post-timeskip but one that also promotes unhealthy, abusive and one-sided relationships. I still believe this but I really spent too much time and energy arguing with fans about this, probably because it was one of the first anime series I got into.
I think AnJ 2 is a mid adaptation that takes away from the source material at times whereas the original AnJ anime enhances it. And outside of Yoko's theme the soundtrack is inferior to the OG.
I don't care about powerscailing but I like reminding Zoro fans that he'd get beat up by everybody in his crew if he misplaced his swords.
I revoke women's lesbian licenses and forbid them from holding hands until they watch Revolutionary Girl Utena.
I can't stand censored nudity. It bothers me to an irrational degree.
I will accept anime with no nudity whatsoever, and I will accept nudity with visible bare boobs that the audience can see, but the second I see steam censoring, hair censoring, light beam censoring, or camera work that goes out of it's way to frame a nude character in a censoring manner, an anime automatically loses one or two points with me.
It's not even a gooning thing, I'm not trying to get off or anything, but it just feels so hypocritical and transparent to me. Why would you include something in your story if you can't show it to the audience? What is even the point?
If you're making an adult-oriented anime... not a hentai, just like an ecchi or whatever... For an intended adult audience, why would you jam pack your anime wall to wall with naked characters only to obscure their nipples at every opportunity? Who are you trying to protect?
The worst of it is probably shows where they're able to show objectively a lot worse than nipples, but still draw that line. I've made this example before, but right in Goblin Slayer, you have scenes with full-body shots of women being raped by monsters, but they're still very careful to make sure her hair is covering her boobs, because yeah, THAT's the offensive part.
And for people to act like nipples are the dividing line that decides whether nudity is sexual or not... That is just objectively not true, and flat out idiotic.
And I find it incredibly annoying that this sort of thing isn't taken into account when the Nudity tag is added to an anime on this site. Oh look, this anime has a ninety percent nudity tag! Nope, it's full of steam with no uncensored version.
I fapped to Boku no Pico, as well as the sequel.
Might I recommend something similar
If a show or manga doesn't "look like my kinda thing", I refuse to watch/read it. I don't care that The Current Big Thing has a really good piece of commentary about the state of potato farming in Cambodia in episode 15 or whatever and there's a character praised as the most realistic portrayal of Munchhausen Syndrome in media since 1970; if it doesn't look like my kinda thing, I just can't be bothered to give it a shot.
Watching made in abyss on 2x speed just to keep up with my friends. Now I know realize how stupid it was, not really in the fact of "keeping up with the joneses" but missing out on the insane soundtrack and taking everything in so watching it on 2x speed just felt so wrong. Glad i went back and watched the entire thing like a normal person.
More often than not I will just spoil the secrets and plot twists for myself, I feel a lot better seeing how something comes to that conclusion rather than being surprised by some plot twist.
Summer time rendering was a big recent one for me, went through the character list and read all the spoilers.
I'm gonna get murdered for saying this...But I prefer dubs over subs. Because I'm often doing other stuff while watching anime! Playing games, working, cooking dinner, whatever. So I can't have my eyes glued to the screen the whole time.
I will absolutely watch subs. Especially if a recent series' dubs haven't caught up with the subs. But my preference is dubs.
Alright, lead me to the execution chamber...I'm ready to die for my sins ;_;
