yooo they have the novel illustrations in the OP. that was unexpected
ok i understand rozemyne's fear of going to the toilet at night after seeing those creepy slimes
i'm a little disappointed by the collapse on the way to the book room. cornelius needs to be more traumatized by her dramatic collapse
wow they're really speeding through this. so much exposition lost
novel spoilers for what wasn't adapted elvira didn't decide to baptize rozemyne as her own daughter until after she saw all the work rozemyne put in to looking like a proper archnoble.
wit studio really did this scene justice
HARTMUT SPOTTED!!! he got his own name pop-up too
the gods' names are so different from the jnovel translation lmao
i'm surprised they actually showed the trail of blood after wilfried dragged her away
the chibi segments survived the change to wit studio T.T
i watched this as soon as it was available on the tver app so i'll probably update with images when the crunchyroll version releases. sidenote: japanese commercials are wild
Wait so who is adopting her? I haven't read the books
Is the story that they want the other nobles to believe that she's actually those first nobles kid, didn't know, spent time in the orphanage, they found her (?), and now that last guys adopting her?
Why isn't she staying with the first lot of nobles?
Sorry if these are dumb questions, it was great seeing the show come back with a bit of money behind it
sylvester, the archduke, is adopting her.
she's being treated as karstedt and his first wife elvira's daughter. the story before that (the one they cooked up at the end of season 3) was that she was karstedt and his third wife rozemary's daughter. myne had to be a noble to be adopted by the archduke and she needed to be adopted by the archduke to save her family.
she can't stay with karstedt's family because the adopted daughter of the archduke is too high in status to stay with archnobles
To add to the previous comments, because even though it's been years since I read the novels, I noticed they cut down A LOT.
This is from the wiki, btw:
Originally, Sylvester suggested that Rozemyne be baptized as the daughter of Karstedt's late third wife, Rozemary, who like Rozemyne had an unusually high amount of mana. According to this story, Rozemyne was hidden in the Ehrenfest Temple in secret to protect her from the power struggle between Karstedt's first two wives and his third wife after Rozemary’s death.
However, Elvira immediately saw through this story. She pointed out that introducing Rozemyne as Rozemary’s daughter would reignite the familial conflict. Instead, she agreed to baptize Rozemyne as her own true daughter as a favor to Ferdinand. In private, Cornelius is told the original cover story, that Rozemyne is Rozemary’s daughter.
///
So, to keep things as simple as possible:
Just one small correction:
Both Rozemary and Trudeleide (Karstedt's 2nd wife) are from the (former) Veronica faction, only Elvira is a Leisegang.
However, Rozemary was doted on a lot by Karstedt (first and second wives are political, third wives are usually chosen based on affection) and that caused the conflict within the family. Also Rozemary was a bitch who always played the victim but was the one who actually stirred shit up all the time.
i just saw some posts on twitter about studio wit using gen ai for the opening backgrounds…i’m so disappointed.
the backgrounds in the opening were outsourced so it wasn't exactly wit
UPD: according to credits, appears to be vietnamese studio Nam Hai Art
though it's still the fault of wit for letting this happen
UPD2: see basenji's reply below

https://www.witstudio.co.jp/news/2026/04/1709.html
Wit confirming AI was used but will be redrawn from ep 2 onward, and stating that Nam Hai Art wasn’t involved.
It’s funny they say they don’t use gen AI in their works*
*except for that one time they did
Something is very wrong with this season. The faces are weird, proportions are random, and shading is completely fucked. Shadows are the same no matter where light comes from.

I assume the image you shared was one of those examples. So what is the problem with it? To me it looks like the light comes from just above on his left. Which again seems quite accurate as it is from the carriage scene, and those usually have several windows to let sun in, and could also explain multiple light sources as they are window like.
Seriously, compared to some other shows I'm watching this season, Bookworm looked the most pleasing and fluent.
