I'm a HUGE fan of monster-taming stuff [Pokemon fan of 17 years] and overall find incredible amounts of enjoyment in monster-collecting games and other such things. My excitement led me to speedread this up until chapter 31ish, where my interest dropped off almost entirely and I was simply skimming chapters to get a grasp on what was happening. What it chooses to focus on is it's Achilles heel, at least in my opinion.
It starts off incredibly interestingly, but that's really all I can give it. The monster-taming ability is charming and so is the orphanage and the grandparents. This is all I can say really for it narrative-wise.
Despite it being a monster-taming manga, I find the monster design incredibly underwhelming. So far it's been either a big animal or an animal with an abnormal feature. This is incredibly boring as hell for me visually since I am a huge character design fanatic, and the only well-designed monster is Pi, but that's barely a compliment considering it's literally an eagle. You'd expect something with a cool name such as 'mystical butterfly' or whatever the hell it was to be interesting, or even 'queen bee' being imposing in some way or having royal features. Nope! Just normal -apparently giant- bugs. thanks, Very awesome. I get the impression that all of these animals he is taming are supposed to be lacking in design because they went ham on more 'important' monster designs later, but I'm not waiting it out to see a cool-looking animal for once in my life. A lot of manga has incredible monster designs despite it not being the focus, which is why it's bewildering to me that so little effort was put into these designs. Anyways, mandatory Diceyseraphim design rant over.
The focus is seemingly on the orphanage and the grandpa's shed and training. That's it. That's all this thing has been for 31 chapters. I understand a child's world is obviously small, but that doesn't seem to be the intent here? It just seems like very poor pacing. We've been warming up slowly but surely, yes, but it's taking far too long to actually get to a notable point. The last notable thing I remember was him finding out how to use APPRAISAL. THAT IS HOW SLOW THIS IS PACING-WISE. The formula seems to be tame monster -> train -> fight monster -> Sweet sappy fluffy moments. It's very droll for what I expected it to be, and the main character has had the unfortunate narrative choice of listening to adults and being a good kid with the combination of a -what seems to be- mother figure. This limits the character's movements so much that I don't even think he's done anything too crazy ever since meeting the grandparents. The formula does not help keep you awake reading it. Yes I am complaining about a child protag being a child protag. This should have opened with the idea that it's sweet fluffiness and that's all. I was hoping for some interesting happenings, but the most interesting thing that's happened for a bit was the protag doing some basic chemistry with his magic. There is no worries or opposition anywhere, and the grandpa figure is such a hindrance to the plot due to the fact every situation is literally under complete control with him there. He solved every and any problem in some way or another that has popped up, and it makes me SNORE!!!!! Let there be some actual conflict... some issues with monster taming sometimes... very flat characters getting developed in some way.... anything... please...
Anyways long story short I am shocked how this interesting idea somehow got executed in the worst way possible, and this might genuinely be the most boring thing I have ever read right next to Johnny Tremain. I SKIMMED. SKIMMMED SO MANY CHAPTERS. YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT I MISSED? Nothing. I looked at some of the pictures and read some words as fast as possible and could figure out roughly what was happening. And then i'd have to scroll to the end of the chapter because whatever I figured out is likely going to be the entire focus for that chapter. I'm not a huge fan of watching characters train or learn things fighting-wise, especially if it seems incredibly surface level. I would rather die than watch these kids dig ANOTHER pitfall and it work.
Do better, read something worth your time and stimulate your brain a bit by reading literally anything else..

I guess I'm making reviewing extremely unknown anime/manga is my thing now.
If I could go back in time, I would not watch these episodes. I wouldn't say this for any other anime- but nothing was gained out of the 20ish minutes I watched this show, and i certainly don't think any of it will stick with me. No, i remembered NONE of the names.
To save you the precious minutes you MAY spend watching this, I'll run over what the anime attempts to do. The main character is a NEET, who runs a popular blog for idols. She boosts underrated idols on this blog in order to make them a bit more popular. There are 4-5[?] Main idols/idol groups that are mentioned, the main one consisting of 3 girls with colorful hair, the other a single girl with dark blue hair, the other a very popular idol, and last but not least, some random brunettes that pop out of nowhere in the last few episodes.
The colorful trio is led by a girl who has red hair who was bound to inherit a strawberry farm and is jealous of her brother. Due to both of these things, she turned into a delinquent in her school. The girl with the blue hair in the group was in the same class as her, and randomly said "Hey, let's be idols together!!" to which she agreed. When meeting up with their manager, they are introduced to the yellow hair girl, who apparently has been performing for a while but now wants to be an idol. Together they form a group, NEET girl boosts it, the red-haired girl wants to go 'major', the yellow-haired girl does not [changes her mind later tho??], and the conflict between them ends, all they need to do is be talented and pull in more people. That's their story. That's it. Oh, and there's this otaku fanatic guy who just likes just about every idol group, we'll come back to him in the next paragraphs.
This group is the main focus right next to two other idols i mentioned, the very popular one and the dark blue-haired one.
Very popular idol wasn't ALWAYS popular [SHOCKING!] and was very underrated back in the day. Otaku dude thought he had a chance with her BECAUSE she was so underground and he was a huge fan. Then the NEET girl talked about her and she blew up in popularity, making him feel as if he was stolen away from her [ok, interesting and realistic I guess, but side note: just know that this can't happen anyways, managers would rather die than have their idols date.]. He hates the blog?? I guess?? And now retires being a huge big fan of the popular girl who- may I add- HAS THE BEST OUTFIT IN THE SERIES. Take a moment to appreciate it! =]
Anyways! Now he focuses on the dark-blue-haired girl! I think to get over the other idol? Or maybe to rival the blog pushing the colorful idols into stardom? Wasn't paying enough attention tbh. Despite being very short, I still felt like these things were 15 minutes long. Anyways, suddenly he is like yes. YOU. Dark blue girl. YOU will be who I make popular by handing out your CDS to everyone ever and such to rival the group the NEET is trying to boost. This miserably fails by the way and she doesn't even want to be major at this point in time, but in the end, she does and it's a big reveal woo yeah!!! The idol herself has a rocky relationship with her mother and has a really garbage human being as a manager, which sucks for her. Anyways that's the show.
The show centers around 2 random losers doing the job that the managers should be doing. Kinda unrealistic but whatever. The main thing I noticed is they would try to get really emotional in one of their 4 minute long episodes [one minute dedicated to the intro, which I'm about to get to], which. Doesn't work. I reference back to the part in the colorful idol group where the red girl wants to go major and the yellow girl cries over which is SUPPOSED to be like really moving or something but she cries really hard out of nowhere on screen for 3 seconds, and the red girl just soaks in a bath thinking about it for a very hilarious stretch of time. Very. Erm. Not emotional. The dark-blue-haired girl has an awful manager and strained relationship with her mother, which they never really focus on for the full effect/weight of it so I wonder what the point of it really is. The mommy issues could not exist and nothing would change. The manager just seems like a random antag that exists for like 30 seconds. Unsure if the Otaku getting out of touch with his waifu the popular idol is supposed to be emotional but it sure seems like it- though i'm giving it a pass since it SEEMS like a joke.
Anyways. The animation is eh, the performances they do with 3d models which is very jarring and strange, i can't fault them for the quality- but it IS a short series. The songs SOUND good to me, and I think they are fine. The funniest thing about them is that they try to incorporate a concert feel with like 7 people weakly clapping which always managed to get a giggle out of me.
The intro takes up 1/3 of the episode sometimes, and it is either the dark-blue-haired girls performance or the colorful idol's performance. It doesn't have an actual intro, they are just clips from the show- which feels a bit jarring. the outro seemed like it was going to be a cute little short thing where they teach you otaku slang, but they stopped doing that really fast and just quit having an outro.
Series SUCKS and I give it a 10 because I actually learned new lingo with otaku culture that I didn't know before + the outfit design is cute.
Wouldn't recommend to anyone, wouldn't watch it again, and honestly would have instantly forgotten about this if I didn't write this review. I WAS going to submit the characters for this but I really don't feel like it, whoever submits them gets a cookie from me. Not kidding, message me if you seriously sub the characters please XD!

Love dragons. Love sweet gentle characters who are misunderstood. Perfect anime for me! Right? Teehee, no =]
First episode was great, and gimmicks are put into place. All characters seem to have a single thing that really highlights how their character is going to be. For example, the disciple the dragon has is quick to submit herself to the dragon, is extremely powerful, yet still idolizes the dragon despite him not being all too powerful himself. The one guy who seems to REALLY want the disciple girl back makes it his whole shtick to go after the dragon and 'save' her, and the dragon is just a sweet jolly old fella who wants the best for his 'disciple'. Sounds great! Love these simple ways to introduce these characters!
Wait, what do you mean that these characters have exactly one gimmick of their personality they center around entirely? Do you mean to tell me that the disciple doesn't change attitudes at all, the guy who seems like he will be a good 'antagonist' shows up exactly 3 times in the whole season, and all the other characters act exactly the same towards the dragon until they realize he is good by some act? Of which they retreat into another 'personality' consisting of one overblown characteristic?
Uhm, yeah... Things get old/boring kinda fast. At least for me. Every character never really changes anything other than their view on MC, and most are just one-note, which I understand, but it's a bit hard to pass it off as 'haha feel-good anime ofc they don't have to worry too much about characters!' when being one-note applies to the main characters as well.
The formula is VERY simple for how things will go. Dragon walks into the place. A person who is in said place does not trust/like the dragon because of rumors they heard [which they somehow immediately assume it is him even though dragons don't seem to be all too rare??]. A person in said place tries killing MC. MC communicates very obviously he is not bad. The person does not listen. Some nutty thing happens and it is revealed that they now no longer think MC is bad. Something regarding disciple is brought up. Confetti, yay!!! Move on to the next place for the same thing to happen again.
This wouldn't be all too bad of a formula if something broke it up or the characters in said formula were interesting. The characters are uninteresting due to them being one-note, the dialogue is boring, the comedy doesn't even make me huff out of my nose, and worse of all, because of the fact nothing too eye-catching is usually happening, I actually THINK, which unfortunately makes me realize how there are a lot of strange choices the anime makes, and how all the characters might as well just be robots who say "Dragon BAD. KILL." and then after 10 minutes say "Dragon GOOD. FRIEND.".... strange analogy, I know, but seriously, this IS how it goes.
EVERY main character misunderstands this dragon instantly and tries to kill him every time they see him. Knight girl had a pass, even if the whole 'testing' him thing was objectively ridiculous. Water saint was actually goofy. There was a WHOLE OTHER DRAGON at one point INSIDE her barrier and she didn't care one bit about it, despite it literally announcing it was serving the demon king or whatever. Reminder; OUR dragon has this misunderstanding about him which makes the Water Saint want to kill/evict him PRONTO despite the fact he has been nothing but docile. After the evil dragon gets whooped by the disciple, you'll never guess how people treat it. AS A JOKE. NOBODY CARES ABOUT IT AFTER BECAUSE THEY SEE IT AS "docile". THE WATER SAINT DOES NOTHING AT ALL ABOUT THIS DRAGON JUST CHILLING!!! AND STILL VOCALIZING HOW HE WANTS TO DESTROY HER TOWN THING!!!
Aggravated me to no end. It's like every character has exactly one brain cell and the only character that has maybe a pea-sized brain is the MC. Every person misconstrues him as this great dragon who levels cities or whatever despite his disposition suggesting entirely different. I could see an argument being "Oh, well, they just don't know if he's tricking them or not!" Ok. Question. If YOU were a very powerful being who wanted to destroy a kingdom and can do so in 5 seconds, why wouldn't you? I, personally, would never go in, get chummy with people [takes a week maybe?], and than destroy everything. Like, what's the point? Why would they assume he is tricking them when he obviously has no reason to? He never attacks anyone or shows any ill will, so i get frustrated from a writing perspective due to the fact that they could've done SO much more.
They could've made him accidentally knock things over, accidentally eat someone's crops, etc.- THAT would have made it a tad bit interesting if they actually made him do things that COULD be misconstrued as evil as well. That one scene where he is eating hay with the sheep- could've easily shown how he needs to be careful with how he presents himself, as him wanting to take from the sheep could instantly have people questioning how good he is. They also could've played around with the fact that he basically knows nothing about the human world.
Anyways, so much missed potential in what they COULD have done with this anime. I wish they made the characters a tad more interesting along with the world. Water Saint was the only interesting character other than the MC, and i'm bummed she didn't go along with them or something because honestly, MC needs more friends in his Posse to NOT have these misunderstandings happen constantly. Unfortunately I don't think that can happen since the only thing this show is based on IS people misunderstanding him and nothing else.
In conclusion!!
=] - Jolly good MC
=] - Charming base idea, even if they do milk it all out for the entirety of the series
=] - points for water saint + disciple [ily precious bbs]
=] - points for no strange fanservice or out of place/character moments.
=[ - points for stagnation of idea, strange character views, unintelligent cast, and overall
=[ - I wouldn't reccomend this to anyone I know personally.
=[ - I wouldn't watch it again. Only thing i'd look this up for is the character designs. >v<
=[ - I giggled 0 times so it kinda fails at being funny which it tries to do constantly

I'll start off by saying that this anime isn't the greatest. I feel physical restraint to say that it is good, but that's just because I'm biased towards the Diclonii design-wise + character-wise. This will have heavy spoilers on characters and for the show itself, just be warned! For the sake of brevity, I'll put this into bullet points for longer sections to make this easier on the reader.
I think I'll start with the good because it feels mean to go rabid on this! As stated before, I LOVE the Diclonii's design; the horns and the pink hair show that they are a foreign and mysterious race. The vectors were such an interesting power that I grew to really love.

Being a HUGE fan of the slime and spider reincarnation manga/anime, I was immediately drawn to this. I was instantly enraptured with the concept of the main character being a little dragon, as I love monster protagonists. I am very forgiving of the media I consume- which is why I was shocked when I found myself having a somewhat negative opinion about this. I am usually a very biased person, but even my bias towards this specific monster reincarnation genre(?) didn't save it from me writing this, and that should tell you something. I will preface this review with the fact that I have only read the manga.
When I first started reading, I was enjoying the crumbs of worldbuilding given to me, as any manga enjoyer would. I wasn't irked by it since the manga was just getting on its feet storytelling-wise, but after righting itself, it managed to immediately fall back down. The beginning is the best part, but it steadily gets worse pacing-wise. The fights are constant, and there was never that much time to breathe in fully what was happening, as I only recall 5 times outside of the introduction where there was actual peace and worldbuilding, though brief. Due to the lack of said times of peace, I found it extremely hard to connect to any characters at all. The only one I like is Black Lizard, and that's just because her design is so darn cute along with her! But she's an animal! I shouldn't like something comparable to a highly intelligent dog more than the only other character that has any personality/development other than the main character. The only true focus of the story is how fast our dragon evolves and levels up, which is also rushed.
Anyways, the constant fighting really ruins tension, as eventually you are just so worn out from the fights that you just want to skip to the part where the main character wins. Sadly most worldbuilding is done in these fights, such as the monkey fight and the fight with the slime dude. Which on that note- this slime literally appeals to everything I like in a character, and somehow I still find myself not attached. I wish they did something more with him personally, as I would have really enjoyed him being a consistent rival- he is the foil to the main character, after all. I suppose the new black mirror of the main character is nice, but I feel like these guys are getting pulled out a bit too early in the series- our little dragon friend has no character development- maybe they should have saved that for later? There isn't anything hidden about him that needs to be highlighted at the moment, and all these dudes are used as is EXP or status fodder.
If you like a Naive main character that is a bit too friendly, this is the story for you. I personally love strong but kind characters, so I don't mind the main character too much- though I have seen many dislike him due to his perceived unintelligence and overall strange decision making- but that's something you have to determine for yourself! If you like constant action, this is also for you! I would compare this to the Demon Slayer manga in terms of fights.
I believe that this was done by a very passionate person, and they got too excited trying to put their idea in manga form. This story has/had so much potential, and I am extremely giddy about the newer chapters taking it a bit slower to establish the world. It looks promising, and hopefully in the next 5 years or so this will be on the next arc, haha. It does take forever to update according to others, but I personally don't mind.
I'm curious about where this is going! It didn't start off too good, but the newer chapters look interesting and the pacing is a lot better. And of course, the most important part... THE MONSTER DESIGNS ARE AWESOME! I love every monster that shows up, the one thing this manga consistently does right is showing the wildlife in their natural habitat, which I love. A lot of the monsters used I have never seen before, which I think gives it more charm! I'm giving it a 60, I feel too bad to rank it lower when it has so much potential qwq. I encourage reading this to see how you feel about it- it's pretty mediocre but perhaps you can find some joy in it like I did. Despite my mostly scathing words, I hope that the manga gets better =]
