so many people drop the entire franchise because they don't understand fate/zero since they go in with zero knowledge. you're not meant to watch it without having seen fate/stay night or fate/stay night: unlimited blade works, and it purposefully doesn't explain things since you're already meant to know them.
logically fate/zero is the past so it makes more sense to start with it.
no... it doesn't make any sense to start with it.
fate/zero was written after fate/stay night and never intended to be an original story. information is purposefully left out as you're meant to have played fate/stay night, and although you may have understood it there are many people who don't and just drop the whole franchise. fate/zero spoils a huge amount of stuff in heaven's feel since you're meant to have already seen/played heaven's feel before watching zero.
the only reason i'm so strongly against recommending zero first is because of the number of people who give up on the entire franchise because they don't fully understand zero without having seen stay night first.
hey ^^ i've made a watch order for the franchise you probably will want to check out

basically, watch fate/stay night: unlimited blade works first.
ignore anyone who says to watch fate/zero first :) it's a prequel, but it was actually released after fate/stay night and expects you to have knowledge from fate/stay night.
@samay I know yours has already been answered but I would have also guessed 3, haha.
