Wow oh WOW this movie is boolin. I had this movie in my planned to watch list for about a month before I watched it. And if you look on the page almost half of all users that have interacted with the movie have it as a plan to watch. And I'd hate for this movie to be that one thing in your planned to watch list that you never get to, cuz you don't wanna miss out on this. It was made by the guy who made Gurren Lagann and I believe he had a hand with fooly cooly. Aight intro done lets get to da praise.
Firstly the Art style is SOOOOO textured it's insane. It's got a certain style where you'll love it or hate it. I personally love it. There's always something happening on screen that'll captivate you. The character design is also amazing. Our two protagonists are funny as all hell and the supporting cast is full of funny faces, like the guy with the penis drill. It's hard to believe that something of this high visual quality was made 17 years ago. I'd go far enough to say that it's my favorite anime art style.
The story takes a backseat, you really get your kicks from the mayhem on the screen, but the story is still of quality. Two people wake up with amnesia and get arrested. This is mostly a story about their jailbreak. It's a pretty fun premise, but at the end of the day, it's only a canvas for the art and character design.
The music bops HARD. It's electronic and often blaring. It's loud, pumps you up, and fits in perfectly with the chaos that is ensuing.
The humor is pretty fabulous too. It's pretty crude so I wouldn't recommend watching in front of parents and or toddlers. But it's pretty funny if you turn your brain off.
The setting of the story is a jail on the moon and it's full of character. I won't spoil too much but the way they detain prisoners and the way they break out of the jail cell was pretty funny.
Our main characters are a guy with a tv head named Retro, and a girl with weird spots on her eyes named Pandy. They play off each other very well and are very loveable main characters.
The antagonists are shown to be big and threatening and an obstacle for our main characters. Theyre definitely fun to watch and their designs are pretty cool.
Aight end time
This 50-minute masterpiece is so slept on it might as well be a mattress. The art style is of the most amazing things I've ever seen and stands out, even in anime. This movie amazes me with every turn and it would be a shame if you missed out on it. Every part of this short movie is entertaining and has gained a VERY high spot on my top ten list. Id says its a must watch movie. With its clear inspirations from 90 cartoons and flair it's just an event you cant miss.
This is a clear 10/10 and I think its highly likely that it'll be a 10/10 for you too

I found this movie because I want to watch every studio ghibli movie. This was listed as their first one ever. The story itself is very ghibli, with no real plot or drive for something, just characters going about their day to day life. Except in this movie, the characters happen to be a girl and two pandas. Now the English dub is funny as hell. The big panda sounds like Patrick from spongebob. The voice acting definitely isn't the movie's strong suit. What I see to be the strong suit are its animations. For me, I love when the animation is either extremely detailed and refined e.g. (no game no life), or basic and older like in this movie. All the frames flow very well and the screen is appealing to look at. Nothing is sharp and everything has smooth visuals, something I would consider to be a strong point. Now the story is just that this little girl's grandma leaves for a few days and panda's that escaped the zoo move in with her. It's simple but somewhat enjoyable. You can see a lot of future ghibli concepts within this movie. It has a strong female lead, its slice of life with a little extra zest, and of course the beautiful artwork. ~!However in the plot nearly nothing eventful happens. It's all just the two bears and the girl talking and eating a little bit. except at the end when the baby panda falls in the lake, so the girl jumps in to save her. Even then that's 4 minutes of this 30-minute movie.~! Its definitely a bit of a slog to get through. All in all, if you have the time, watch it because it's the first-ever ghibli movie, it's definitely not their most enjoyable work, however you are sure to find some charm and beautiful artwork.
Voice acting 3/10: It was objectively bad and I should put it at a 2 to 1, however, the big panda's dub voice is too funny I swear that's one of the best reasons to watch this movie.
Plot 4/10: There really was no plot except these characters just chilling in a cabin. I'll give them 4 because their interactions were somewhat interesting, but not very.
Characters 5/10: The characters were somewhat basic, energetic little girl, funny but lazy panda, and cute baby panda. but there were some interesting interactions between them.
Setting 5/10: Just a cabin and a dam at some point its an ok setting, a little lackluster but enjoyable enough.
Art 8/10: as I said before I'm a sucker for more retro art styles in anime and this one is also fluid, props to these guys.
Overall 5/10: I'm going to give this a 50 because, while the art was indeed strong, everything else was just sort of average, it was an ok time, if you've got any time I say go for it but don't expect too much. Its a fun story about two pandas and a little girl, nothing more nothing less its fun if you let it be, just lay back and turn your brain off.
