I want to start Black Clover but i don't know if i should start with the anime or manga. i've been looking online everywhere on which to pick, from what i seen people say on the internet, the anime had pretty bad animation for like the first 30-40 eps but then i heard it improves greatly in terns of how consistent it gets. and something about fate animators joining the team later? so i need some help on what to pick, much appreciated.
I would recommend the manga because it isn't rushed and explains plot points carefully where the anime rushes over them but still explains the key aspects. The manga has much better pacing and isn't all over the place in terms of geography and character dynamics which can't be said fully for the anime as it's rushed quite a bit. You can definitely watch both, if the first 15-20 episodes of the anime are bearable then you can handle it but just read the manga as a side hobby if that is the case. Please note that the anime is technically in an anime filler arc (it's filler that actually has relevance but not key relevance).
Personally, I like the manga better than the anime. The manga cuts out a lot of the unnecessary interactions between the characters and makes them more tolerable in my opinion. The art style of the manga also looks great. I really like how the action scenes are drawn. Common complaints with the anime is that Asta is loud ( which he is). But I think he tones down over time. It's up to you which ever route you choose.
the manga is better. After reading the manga, I tried watching the anime with a friend just to see how good it was and it felt like a completely different series. The anime's pacing was super slow and liked to exaggerate some character traits but I think it's fine now. It took like 50 episodes for it to be enjoyable for me while the manga hooked me almost instantly.
Alright so i started off with the anime and then read ahead once i caught up.
I honestly enjoyed the anime more than I did the manga, but the anime does have many issues like people being annoyed by Asta's va or the inconsistent animation quality.
I would suggest you give the anime 5-10 episodes, and if you dislike it you could just switch over to the manga.
Black clover never misses with its opening and the major fights are well animated so i suggest you watch those regardless of which route you choose.
The anime is also ending after 5 episodes so just keep that in mind, tho it most likely will come back at a later date but that still has not been announced.
If you like manga then stay away from Black Clover anime.
The animation sucks, it just sucks. I don't think it subtracts too much from the story but if you like manga anyway then all the easier to simply away from it.
thanks for responding :)
i will start manga after i complete
The Breaker New Waves
and i will watch a few episodes of anime beforehand
i would say for black clover i prefer the manga over anime as to why that is you can be turned off the show by asta's voice actor or maybe you can be turned off by inconsistant art and animation and apparently it has many fillers too so yeah thats for black clover
as for fairy tail i havent read it but i did watch the anime i guess you could try reading he manga for it but anime ads a different charm to the series make sure to skip the fillers
The anime starts pretty poorly which turns a lot of people off. Asta can be quite annoying (I don't blame the VA, I think it was a tonal choice by the directors to show his immaturity and energetic personality) and there is plenty of filler littered throughout the series.
That being said, it's not as bad as Naruto with filler, and the anime does a good job of making important moments more impactful than they would be simply through paper. The soundtrack is pretty good (OPs are fire) and the animation is clean during important moments (but for the most part pretty ordinary shounen stuff).
If you're really interested in getting into the series then I would say the anime is a solid adaptation. Skip the filler if you want, and you could probably read the manga after finishing the anime (it's taking a break after ep 170).
It's strange to say but, the Anime has more details than the actual Manga, but at the same way the Anime try to get deeper into it that gives too much filler to the Anime. It's good to have a detailed background to understand what's happening in that "World" but it makes it kind of boring sometimes with the fillers.
I recommend watching the anime first and then read the manga, cause the actual fights are insane and brutal, I love the style of the anime, the red lightning sparks, and the magics are amazing. I totally recommend it that way.
