The only way (as far as i know) for you to play music on your profile page is by having webm video play in your bio, its muted by default but most people check for volume settings if they see it. You can make it look like an audio player with buttons but unfortunately there is no way for it to be interactive. Check my profile if you wanna see how it looks.
the mp4 music banners are uploaded using external services. If you do have one you wish to upload I recommend using catbox.moe . Copy the link and upload as Webm when finished. To actually create the banner you need to convert/download any music you wish to have and create the banner. Can be done using software such as adobe after effects/alternatives. Alternatively, upload a youtube video it's fairly easy.
pretty sure it’s usually just an edited WebM file, but if you get one of those videos with a song you like and something like a visualizer or whatever effects, you can convert the MP4 file to a WebM file through something like Handbrake and then put that into catbox for the link to use on your profile
Then you get something like this on your profile for example
The thread "How do I add music to my bio?" and its comments have been merged into this thread.
You can view the merged thread's body below:
I just saw someone using catbox, but you have to unmute it to play it, and it was a video, are there any good sites you guys know that are only for audio? with a picture included maybe? but not a video, and that you don't have to unmute, kind of like on tumblr for example:
https://yotsuo.tumblr.com/post/180193490927/akino-arai-adesso-e-fortuna-honoo-to-eien
help? and could you link some profiles with song in them and that look good so that I can take inspiration on how my bio should be?

If you mean simple input/output websites where you upload an audio file & image(s), play around with the settings a bit and then press a button to have it spit out a whole video for you, I think @Babayaga's link in google docs, https://www.veed.io/ or other similar sites should be your answer. Just remember that at the end of the process, you're still exporting a video file so you're gonna have to host it online somewhere (like catbox) before you can feature it in your bio.
If you take a look that this thread under the other videos section, we are limited to one raw, default look when posting webm video and audio files on AL. When the page loads the first time you land on it, you must manually unmute webm audio and video files. That’s set in stone.
Audio files look like this:
There’s no way of making it look neat by
1) inserting an image (of the associated album cover, for example) above the player like your linked tumblr post, or
2) by inputting any informative text (like the song title & composer) flush on top where the gap is. By default, the huge gap is just there and there's no way to get rid of it on our end.
Here’s my failed attempt at mimicking your tumblr post:
It just doesn't work. Doesn't look too flattering if you move the image underneath either:
Only a slight improvement, but now the display order of the contents make less sense.
Most webm videos take up the entire width of the container it’s in so in forum threads, they look ginormous:
Less so in bio sections because the container's width is smaller, so it looks more appealing.
I’d still recommend that you make a slim, snazzy rectangular music visualizer video using the link in Google docs from the above comment. Or, if you’re willing to put in the effort (and $), you can use a fancy program like After Effects. Most of the cool audio visualizer videos in bios you’ve come across are made in it using the visualizer effect. You can look up youtube tutorials to teach you. With AL’s limitations right now, making a custom video for your bio lends you the most design and layout flexibility. It’s the best workaround to the problems I described which is why you see so many people do it. So I think you should go for it.
You asked for some slick bio layouts for inspo so here are some with music:
1 · 2 · 3 · 4
Clean (and some simpler) layouts without music accompaniment:
5 · 6 · 7 · 8

Np! Look to this thread under PART 4: MISCELLANEOUS > linked images.

To make images appear at all, you still do. Images need to be hosted somewhere online so that you can input the image address inside the bracket:
img##(paste_image_address_here_which_ends_with_a_file_extension_like.jpg)
Then you can proceed to make the entire image a link by following the instructions under linked images section:
img##(paste_image_address_here_which_ends_with_a_file_extension_like.jpg)

I pointed to:
1) the above user's link to their Google Docs instructions as the first website option
3) you can also google hundreds of other sites that will help you make simple videos with images in them using audio files of your choice.
EDIT: Keep in mind that https://www.veed.io/ is just a standard video maker that can combine images with audio. It doesn't have fancy audio visualizer settings like the first user's suggested website, https://musicvid.org/.
how did you make the links into numbers?
They are just standard links.
You should bookmark this thread in your browser: https://anilist.co/forum/thread/6125
You'll find it helpful.

To quote text, all you gotta do is put a ">" in front of the line you want to quote.
Like this:
> how did you make the links into numbers?
If you look under the quoted text section in this thread, the same instructions are there.

@gourm3t You can't actually import audio files on here. Instead, you either have to host it somewhere, or the file has to already be uploaded online.
I’ll use the audio from this Death Note Tumblr post as an example.
You would grab the URL that targets the audio file:
And paste it in the same AL markdown code you’d use to post videos.
What the code looks like:
What it looks like on AL:

Ooh glad it worked!
Yeah, that annoying gap is not pretty if you're planning to display it in your bio. There's nothing we can do about that unfortunately, which is the reason why most people resort to making and displaying a pretty audio visualizer video in their bios instead.
As for your previous question, I got some stuff to add since back when I had these same questions, learning these little things helped me out:
First, the famous AL Markdown Guide that is most shared around here gives a really helpful tip:
so you don't need to convert the audio to webm or anything when you plug it into webm(). It works for mp3 and mp4 too. The examples I used above are all mp3.
As for places to host things, cloud storage for personal use, like Google Drive or Dropbox, won’t let you use it to host files, which is probably why they don’t work. Instead, try places like discord, catbox or tumblr. (I used to use wildbook.me but their site seems to be down indefinitely for mysterious reasons.)
If it was sooner, I would link someone that you could request for it, but they apparently got hacked and other threads for this the users are removed, so the only way i know is this one
