Favorite composers?
I’m liking Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev rn tbh
tchaick symphonies 4,5, and No. 6 pathetique are among some of my favorite pieces of music period.
His piano concertos, violin concerto, and suites for ballet (nutcracker, swan lake) are also some of the most beautiful melody writing i've ever heard.
As for prok, his concertos and a few of his symphonies are really nice, but I'm not all too familiar with them. I love his flute sonata in D major and romeo et juliet suite.
I was on a Mozart bit a couple of months ago, I really liked the clarinet quintet and a couple others I forgot the names of
not too familiar with the clarinet quintet tbh.. do u happen to play clarinet or an instrument?
Nothing concert music, I play Bass guitar and can sing choir and pop music
I love Bach right now. I know it's basic, but Air is one of my favorite songs of all time, forever.
love Bach right now. I know it's basic
Naw don't let anyone tell you he's basic lmao, just about every composer EVER (no matter how niche or obscure) was influenced by him in some way, and many of the greatest composers even refer to him as the greatest. From Stravinsky, to rachmaninoff, to Mahler, to Bartok, Bach , to john williams, to chopin) influence and admiration for bach is ever present.
Fantastic album lineup by the way, King crimson int eh court, larks tounge in aspect, SOAD, nujables(one of my favorites), nanachi, aphex twin, lateralus tool, and ryo fuki scenery
Ahh if ur just getting into bach here are some very famous gateway pieces that all borrow heavily from bach. But if ur into classical ull probably recognize all of these ahah.
Wow, I don't even know where to start. Thanks for the follow, the great answer, and that you reviewed my topsters.
I've made a revised version, if you are interested. https://imgur.com/5zf4mO1
Looking back, when I've had music class in elementary, I've always had an interest in composers and their compositions, however peer pressure kinda led me to show a superficial dislike towards the whole thing and there was even one class when I'd listen to Iron Maiden with one earphone plugged in (basically deafening both songs). Because you know. I'm so cool.
I'm proud that Bartók Béla and Liszt Ferenc came from my country, in fact, I have a distant dream of creating a composition of my own. But for that to happen...
I've been listening to Gershwin lately.
But my taste usually tends to sway towards late Classical to Romantic
Favorites include Tchaikovsky, Chopin, and Beethoven, especially his chamber works
Random q but do you watch TwosetViolin by any chance?
I'm a fan of Gerswhin, but honestly im not all that well acquainted with his music. Ofc i love the preludes, piano concerto in F, American In Paris, and Rhapsody in blue but im not too familiar with much else... Any recommendations?
Love his style though, the jazz/classical fusion is what i believe set him apart as a genius. Shame he died at 33 too...
Gotta love tchaick and beethoven as well...
Do u happen to play an instrument?
As for twosetviolin, I watched them a long time ago, their OG skits from like 2016/2017 or something and all the comments were exclusively composers haha. I personally don't really watch them anymore, perhaps i'm out of the loop or my soul is just dead but i don't find them very interesting or funny anymore. The content seems just repetitive and the endless circlejerk of the same few jokes just wasn't for me...
I must say one thing though, i have nothing but respect for those two guys and it has warmed by cold and bitter heart to watch their monumental success over the years. As someone who quite literally grew up listening to and playing classical music since the age of four, it has made me genuinely happy to see the massive community of musicians they're acquired and im sure they've introduced the beauty of classical music to millions of people who otherwise, who have never found it...
I only know of a few iconic pieces from Gershwin as of now, so I can't say I'm in a position to recommend anything from him tbh other than American in Paris and Rhapsody in Blue. I've actually also started listening to Dvorak as well.
As for instruments, I used to play piano, violin and viola. I played in my high school's symphony for all four years.
Glad to see your appreciation for twoset as well :)
