I've been looking for a while, especially for wlw ones, but all the ones I could find seemed really fetishy.

Edit: The anime does not have to be based solely around the relationship, although it can be!

  i only watched a few episodes, but pretty much everything was disgusting, the fact that they were stepsisters, the way they treated each other and then made out? it was terrible

  I haven't seen citrus, but tbh, I fucking love those spicy af shows like domestic girlfriend and scum's wish. I get they're complete garbage and shitty shows, but it's such a guilty pleasure of mine I can't stop watching them

Adachi and Shimamura
although its definitely not a romance, it has my favorite wlw relationship
Attack on Titan
yuri undertones/theme everywhere, extremely good so far
WONDER EGG PRIORITY

A major problem is many writers use the fact that they are using LGBTQ+ characters to "sell" the anime, as opposed to making a good story itself. I don't actively watch yuri, but ive heard anime such as

Adachi and Shimamura
Miss Kobayashis Dragon Maid
Bloom Into You
My Next Life as a Villainess All Routes Lead to Doom

are pretty good.

my favorite anime of all time. it deals with heavy things later on and there's a huge shift after 10 or episodes.

NSFW, a very open & real deception of lesbianism (as a lesbian, i related strongly to this. one of my favorites)

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou
Not explicitly gay, and not centered on the relationship between alpha & kokone, but it's very good.

Beware the Villainess
another one of my favorites! it's shaping up to be a romance between the female leads. pretty lighthearted so far.

Strawberry Panic
It's not really good, but 120% lesbian. Like imagine someone writing his first yuri manga and to please everyone, he just dumps every cliche he knows into it. The best part is actually when the heads of the different schools meet each other and act like they are diplomats discussing how to achieve world peace, but well, you can hardly get more lesbian than Strawberry Panic.
