The new Fire Emblem looks great in my opinion (although my opinion is pretty worthless considering I've never played any Fire Emblem games); I always love character designs for Fire Emblem and knowing the 3DS' graphical capabilities, I think this Fire Emblem would be pretty compatible with the hardware. But is it that much of a step-up from Awakening? It looks really similar, but again, I don't really know how the Fire Emblem series is hands-on, gameplay wise.
If it's the exact same thing as Awakening but with a different story and different characters I'll be extremely excited. FE Awakening was great so having more of it would be awesome. And if you've never played any of the FE games and have a 3DS you should try to pick up Awakening, it's a great first step into the series
Honestly I would've but I don't own a 3DS, because Awakening had such great reviews! I've just tried the 3DS plenty of times from people I know who have one.
I have a friend who has been into Fire Emblem for a long time now, and based from that trailer, he was rather surprised how little will the new Fire Emblem change from Awakening. All the previous releases supposedly had bigger differences between each other, while this one seemingly has only a few different approaches. He also implied that he has mistaken the dancer for Lucina there for a second, which further proves the point of (un)wanted similarity.
If you were to ever get a 3DS and give it a try, I highly recommend the purchase of Awakening; it is really worth it. Also, note that these games are designed in a way so it doesn't matter if you've played their previous releases or not. I, for one, have started with Awakening, meaning that I've only played a single game in the franchise up until now. I'll be giving the new Fire Emblem a try, regardless of similarities, since I've been made a fan. :)
