no it was all over the place og eva definitely better
Shinji's complexities, personal situation and position are flaming in this part of the story, they're in the core message of Evangelion
that only applies to the og series and end of eva the reboot sucks but have nice fight scenes imo

interesting take,
i personally believe evangelion 2.0 is way better than all the reboot films it felt like it was fixing the og series like how they "actually" made asuka a bit more likeable. focusing on relationships isnt bad tbh. i dont think its mocking the face of the old evangelion theyre just making the old eva better with this. also with more budget fights were actually pretty epic(not saying the og series wasnt). and then they had to fucking ruin everything with 3.0 .
the moment you compared eva Q to NGE is the moment your take is shit. NTE are "sequels" NTE are not remakes and shouldn't abide by what NGE did, eva 2.0 has shallow writing and doesn't dive into it's characters much but it has a purpose it's purpose is setting up a escapist narrative for the otaku/obcessed viewer to get validation to his headcanon and then Q destroys it by actually going back to the realistic and grounded world of classic evangelion. It's not non sensical, you commit genocide even by accident, you must face the consequences after watching shin evangelion it's even more clear why they are mad at him. Also the fight scenes in 3.0 are fucking fantastic and extremely creative, it's portrayal of color and merging an old style with digital is incredible, 1.0 and 2.0 look extremely generic late 00s while 3.0 has identity and doesn't stray away from NGE/EoE while being new and creative.
And of course in a techincal term nothing beats 3.0, the animation is better, the art style is better, the movie isn't rushed and messy, the colors are incredible, the framing and composition are top tier.
TLDR : you got baited by anno and your waifu isn't real, 2.0 mocks you and 3.0 isn't nonsensical
