Good episode, tho if I'm being honest this is my least favorite season so far and I don't think anything crazy is gonna happen anymore. It's not bad at all, just not great.
looks like you don't like slice of life stuff
It has nothing to do with that and it's not like I dislike the genre, Nana could be considered SOL and it's one of my favorite shows. This season had by far the least character development, fights or anything that made Mob stand out as a shounen imo. Again, it's not bad, just not as good as the previous seasons imo.
the fights or the action aren't really one of the aspects that make mob stand out though.
the highlights of the series are the character growth and interactions, which i believe there's been a considerable amount with characters that aren't just mob or reigen, such as serizawa and dimple. the season isn't over yet so all i'll say is that there's definitely more to come to elevate this season.
The fights might have not been the main appeal but they were great and this season had like one half baked one so far and Dimple's story arc felt a little rushed as it got resolved in like 1.5 episodes. For being the last season I guess I just expected a little more but it's not over yet so we'll see.
i'd say it boils down more to preference in regards to the fights, i never really paid them much attention as i did to the characters' progression, though i do admit they're great.
i do disagree that nothing noteworthy happened in the divine tree arc though, it's the culmination of 2 seasons' worth of buildup. sure the main focus was on ekubo's epiphany on his true desires he developed throughout the series, but it was also an important step in mob's journey.
i don't mean to imply you're wrong for preferring the previous seasons, but there's still character development present in this season as well.
what did the last 6 episodes, the Divine Tree arc, lack in your opinion?
Idk just felt like not much happened in terms of plot or character progression. Sure Ekubo had his 10 minutes or so and I enjoyed it but other than that, once everything got resolved it felt like nothing happened. I still like the season because of the already existing characters, but not much is being done with them anymore. It's kinda like the second half of Horimiya, idk if you've seen it, but they basically set up a decent story and developed their characters in the first half, only to ignore them and focus on some random side characters I couldn't care less about in the second. It's not nearly as bad in Mob but that's kinda how I feel about it. I'd still give it like an 8 so far.
