Ofc they couldn't hold themselves back putting in some weird pantsu talk though.

This episode was way better than ep1 in my opinion. I'm a sucker for big adventures in weird places and while it remained relatively normal, it was still an enjoyable and eye pleasing setting. Slower pace of the episode helped with establishing the character dynamics too, though it's still to early to get any development. In the ep1 discussion I mentioned it could either be something really interesting or fail miserably and it seems to be going the right way.
we've safely arrived at Higashi Agano Station, Hanno City, Saitama Prefecture!
for those who are curious, the train line featured is the Seibu Ikebukuro Line, with the starting point in the anime being Agano Station. the train they're riding on is the Seibu Railway Kumoha 2463

I wouldn't say it's any 'weird talk", when it makes a great deal of sense to worry about it. They're talking about a journey that they don't even know when it'll end, and they brought very little with them. That's how people die
A really really really enjoyable episode~
Ofc there is still a "reason" for it to be there but it's weird because there is absolutely no need for it and you know they just put it in cuz "small girls pantsu huehuehue" for the degens.
It's an age old trope that can honestly just die, it's goofy.
And I just don't see it as that. It's a very realistic thing to discuss. They're trying to hammer into the viewer that these girls are woefully under-prepared. Sure it's an "uncomfortable" subject, but survival requires those kinds of conversations.
I've seen said trope for sure, but I don't see this as an example. It just feels like a natural sort of conversation that someone would have once the initial "high" of making such a life altering decision wears off.
They were all about to go back home to resupply, after all, once Shizuru realized how much she hadn't taken into account.
Waiting for the obligatory pool/beach/bathing episode where there will surely be great realistic reasons for them to wear skimpy bathing suits as well.
To put it more clearly, I am just cautious about where the show is headed if they already start with that stuff in episode 2. Usage of such tropes is often a bad omen to me as they often lead to predictable shows and its just overdone.
Sure it's somewhat rooted in "realism" but nobody can tell me those things aren't just put in for fanservice reasons mainly.
Seems like needless cynicism to me when there's been no real indication that the show's going to go in that sort of direction whatsoever
if we had seen blatant fanservice(or really any fanservice at all, even subtle) in these first 2 episodes I might be inclined to agree, but it really doesn't feel like it was intended to pander to degens
I'm having a really hard time getting invested in this main cast. Everyone feels paper thin in characterization, and the majority of their interactions are bickering and random tangents. It's really grating and bothersome after not even 10 minutes.
I feel like this is going to be one of those stories where if you cannot wrap your head around what's going on its going to be better to just turn your brain off and enjoy it.
The 7G Incident is just so random in my opinion and a lot of what happened because of it has so far been unexplained. Its like coming up with the plot for the sake of having a plot and not really thinking through why things happen.
There was nothing weird about the scene discussing their underpreparedness. I always find it disappointing when anime that involves a long tour just conveniently avoids every mention of the hygiene aspect, it's such a cop out, I'm glad they included at least some toned down version of worrying about their clothes in this one.
The argument between Akira and Reimi was a bit too long and borderline vexing, but otherwise, I have no complaints, yet another fantastic episode. Though I'd say its most charming aspect is the visuals, you really just want to hop on the train with them and explore post-apocalyptic Japan. The shroom girl at the end was a bit sus.
I lost track of time watching this. Before I knew it, I was 17 minutes in, and then it was over. I think it's the back and forth talking that makes it speed by.
Uncovering the world bit by bit has been awesome. I'm excited about the next episode and these mushroom people now that the journey has reached Higashi-Agano Station.
