Well, finally the anime is out! I really enjoyed the manga and the light novel (4 vols of NL is out so far) and the anime is pretty decent so far, except few details i think its missing, but might not be of huge effect.
My only comment for this ep would be WTF is this XD the magic text is arabic text now? They are so lazy to forge a langue XD and thought they would copy some arabic text and no one would notice?

People just don't get isekai'd the right way anymore.
Other than that.
Class transport: Check
Hero is a useless twat: Check
Summoner has some funny business going on: Check
MC is not a useless twat: Check
So I guess we have more or less the starting point of Arifureta.
I wouldn't say the checks are completely accurate. Hero isn't useless. He has a natural reaction to stressful situation in the dungeon (apart from being cursed). And from what I remember from the manga, the curse is part of the larger intrigue of the King and the Princess. Hero is actually a decent person (not like the Hero guy from Arifureta who constantly judged Hajime) and trusts and respects the MC very much and wants to support him properly, hence why he wants to become stronger later on. TBH I had my eye on this story for a while because from all the isekais I saw this one had this whole idea of an intrigue going on and MC not trusting the people out of simple causiousness (and he turns out to be right) while the rest is just reacting like any regular person would. Maybe it looks a bit naive of them to not be at least a little bit suspicious but tbh who normal born and raised in our world with pretty decent regular life would actually have suspicion as a first reaction. Not many people. Usually people who were wronged would have this reaction first. MC is just the typical calculative type so he took this into consideration while the rest was like "wow, isekai, cool!".
I'm looking forward to the intrigue and what the heck is King's evil plan.
The description had me go in with, like, negative amounts of expectations, and maybe those pitifully low standards are to blame, but... I guess it kinda positively surprised me? Not like this is anything remarkable, and it still does a lot of stuff that annoys me with isekai anime, but it was at least nice to see the protagonist react sort of reasonably to all of this and be kinda wary.
I was so ready to be baffled at how the show would justify that everyone's first reaction to an "assassin" class would be to call it bad/something to bully the main character for, thanks to the description...
Idk something felt really wrong.
This entire episode was both unimaginative and poorly paced. Not to mention some weird situations like, "we don't have planes but we have videocameras".
I don't know, I understand the intention to move to the interesting stuff faster, but this certainly isn't the right way.
The art style for the characters is good for me. It reminds me of 90-00 anime. Or at least that's my impression. I expected trash but this first chapter seems alright? I mean, the protagonist is not dumb enough to show his stats and not blindly trust the strangers, altough it's difficult to do if you end up being summoned with magical powers.
Akira's sidekick (the holy knight that I forgot his name) is so convinient but who cares? I'm watching this show with my brain turned off.?
I decided to watch this because it has Saku "Sakupi" Mizuno's first main character role since Fall 2022, when she was both Ryo from Bocchi the Rock! and the Raven Consort from Raven of the Inner Palace. The fact that she voices a main character in Bocchi the Rock! means that she's one of the most important people ever to exist, so I couldn't miss this chance to finally see her in another main role.
Unfortunately, her character wasn't even in this episode, so I have to wait another week for her to appear. However, I still enjoyed the first episode despite that setback. There was enough intrigue to keep things interesting, and I'm curious about what the king and that unsettling blonde lady next to him are hiding from everyone.
Looking forward to next week when Sakupi's character enters the story and we how that Minotaur battle concludes.
i am so stick of people comparing this anime to Arifureta. Its like saying Haikyuu is like kuroko no basket.
Here are SOME of the things that would make this claim so stupid:
While Arifureta’s Hajime transforms from an ordinary student into a ruthless survivor driven by betrayal, Akira from Assassin isnt some trained killer, his abilities in the new world stem from the job and life he had in the real world, not from combat experience. Unlike Hajime, Akira isnt constantly acquiring new powers but rather refining and mastering the ones he already possesses. The series also takes time to logically explain how its skill system works, detailing how abilities function and evolve, whereas Arifureta often glosses over such mechanics, skills just exist, and characters cast them without much explanation. Overall, Arifureta is a story about becoming strong through suffering, while Assassin is about understanding and improving one’s given strengths within a structured system. It’s less about flashy power and more about precision, strategy, and thoughtful worldbuilding, and the list goes on!! I didnt even explained the rom that is going in each and how the overall story pace was delivered
Might just crashed out or vented up there but it really pissed me making such ridiculous claims. If i said "Haikyuu is like kuroko no basket" like i mentioned up there just cuz they knew each other in middle school before going to high school (Haikyuu were vs each other in middle school to with each other in high school and kuroko is the opp) and that both are doing school sports. I will get a crazy hate XD its just so stupid ill just stop cuz its clearly im so pissed and i need to get off this
Why are you getting upset at other people's opinions in the first place? If you are going to make a thread/respond to a discussion thread, you should expect people to have different opinions. There is no need for a crash out and I think your right about maybe getting off this for a bit. Its wild to say that this doesn't have similarities to Arifureta. Yes, it has things that clearly set it apart but its undeniable that some of the same beats are present.
Again, its ok if you like it and other people don't. Just enjoy the ride and maybe not look at the comments or put too much emotional value in other people's opinion.
I don't even know if I can properly articulate what I just watched
it's like I watched exactly half of the scenes each from the first and 3rd episodes of a really solid anime. Some of the worst pacing I have seen in a while, and yet there's just enough there that I don't want to dismiss it.
I am infinitely conflicted right now.
Not bad - surprisingly decent production but a very generic setup and intentionally dull MC all while feeling exceedingly rushed, feels like we skipped a few episodes. We basically didn't get introduced to any of the other class at all.
Being so forgetable no one in your class knows you're there doesn't make a cool and brooding MC, just that they're a loser. Still makes a change from the bully victim trope.
Couple of things amused me, one he makes no comment on the fact they're being watched by a movable lense camera in a fantasy world, and also that when he does disappear his one semi friend doesn't bring up again at all and then he just reappears later without comment.
The description made this sound like an edgelord-y revenge fantasy isekai (disclaimer: that's part of the appeal for me), which... isn't wrong, but also doesn't really feel accurate either.
Like, yeah, "whole class gets isekai'd but the main character is Different™ and also the strongest" is very wish fulfilment-y. Clearly feels targeted at people who feel lonely and/or ignored, and/or who want to feel justified in not trusting others easily, but like, nothing wrong with aiming for that audience. Just means it won't be for everyone, which no story is anyway.
And sure, it's following some of the common tropes, but there's nothing wrong with that either, as long as they're prominent enough in the premise (and they are) that people can self-select in or out. They're popular for a reason, at least for their intended audience of whole-class-isekai enjoyers (or revenge fantasy isekai enjoyers).
But it's also doing some things I haven't seen before (though I'm not widely versed in the genre so that doesn't mean much).
Unlike the last two only two "whole class gets isekai'd" isekais I watched, the main protag in this does work with the rest of his classmates, rather than having an antagonistic relationship on one/both sides.
Akira already having an ally when it comes to the intrigue side of things is also fun to see, and softens the edgelordiness a little. (A lot of edgelordier stuff I've watched tends to have characters who Work Alone™, by choice or by ostracism, and only eventually reluctantly work with others. This isn't doing that.)
The pacing's a bit fast (having a nighttime scene or two during the montage to properly indicate that time is passing may have helped), but I'm guessing that's to get to the real meat of the story quicker. The description specifies Akira being framed for a crime, which I suspect is the real turning point slash plot catalyst, with everything before it being introductory/establishing context.
Anyway, this subverted my expectations in a very pleasant way, and I'm glad I can already watch episode 2 (I procrastinated actually watching anything for the last, like, week or so, whoops).
