The fourth episode, "The Assassin Calls the Name," continues to showcase the protagonist Akira's pragmatism and growing suspicions about his summons to this new world with Amelia, as they venture into the elves territory...
I'm sorry but the motivations behind Kilika were so poorly done.
If Liam was resurrected, why did her memories even need to be sealed? He said she was consumed with guilt that she got him killed, but he wasn't even dead?
The king obviously can manipulate memories at will, so even if it took days for Amelia to bring him back, he could have just undone it? But she had to have been unconscious the whole time or she would have found out he was dead anyway...
Not like I'm expecting all that much from this show, but that just took me out
Well even if he was revived, the memory of being the reason he died wouldn't vanish, even though she would know that everything ended up being okay that guilt in the back of her mind could always end up being detrimental especially because she was a child who is still developing and even worse if she's very empathetic.
Was it the best decision? No. Can I understand why they made that decision? Yes.
even then with stuff like that you don't just forget about it, as horrible of a situation as that is it's also a great learning point for a child as long as you guide them through their trauma correctly, suppressing it only makes things worse since it's bottled up and simmering until it comes back up
That's why I said that, while it wasn't the best decision, I can understand why they did it, besides they didn't "suppress" or let her keep it bottled inside, they sealed it, meaning the memory was pretty much non existent for her and gave it back to her now that she's an adult and can deal with her past actions. Again, not the best decision, but an understandable one
amelia is giving me anger issues. why did they have to write her as the most typical isekai mc woman companion (lover) ever
What do you mean by "the most typical isekai mc woman companion (lover) ever"?
I don't see anything wrong with her character. She was banned by the ones she loved and met the hero, who took care of her and helped her solve this bad situation. That's more than anyone has ever done for me.
She litterally fell in love for no reason with the guy almost as soon as they met, what do you mean there's nothing wrong with the character ?
She was probably attracted to the “bad boy” attitude of the hero, that elves her age find so appealing ;D
Have you never been approached or whistled at in the street, by some cute girl you never met? This kind of thing happens IRL.
Nah, the author just gave her feelings for the MC like that, because what would be a woman without feelings for the hot and cool MC that litterally did nothing ? And no, i've never been approached or whistled in the street, it does happen but that's basically a miracle
Your life must have been quite lonely :D I can assure you that it doesn't require any miracle, just some good looks and attitude. Women are just as capable of feeling sudden attraction as men, that's how I've met some of my girlfriends without looking for anyone.
I don't know when it became a problem for a teenage girl to be attracted to a good-looking boy in a fantasy story. Hollywood has built an entire industry on it, just like many authors before.
I don't understand what's so improbable or reprehensible about the choice this author made. The narrative moves along fairly quickly in this series, and the friendship between the hero and his protector also happens rather suddenly. But it's all sufficiently plausible that any gaps can be filled in with a little imagination.
Amelia likely has a crush on the MC. I mean the MC played the part of "Knight in Shining armour" straight and did it three times. It's not like it came out of the blue.
I get it that the "Knight in Shining armour" cliche is rare and outdated, so people won't recognise it as such when it does show up.
Though whether you find it realistic is a different question. I think it's fine.
Some of the worst writing I have ever seen. We find out about the elven continent's succession crisis and familial blood feud the same episode they are resolved through some random bullshit. Truly horrendous pacing and confusing writing. The leaf of the Holy Tree made the guy immune to mind control! Why? What even is the Holy Tree? Who cares!
how did we go from 3 pretty damn good isekai episodes in a row to such an unbearable slog of an ep within moments of it starting, this one was kind of a yikes for me Kilika was unbearable, i also need somebody to explain how she thought her sister stole from her btw, like okay the memory happened sure, it was stupid but i can get it ig, but how did that end up leading to her resenting her sister? just because people walked on egg shells around her ig so she thought people didn't like her or cared about her ig?
That was possibly the most rushed thing I've ever seen. This felt like an entire season that was condensed down to a single episode. After last week's rushed Amelia/Akira stuff where she's in love with him for no reason, I thought we could maybe slow down here, but it was just... shit happening, and before it can settle in, even more shit happens! They don't even set up enough for these to even be twists; it truly is just shit happening.
If this story happened after Amelia had travelled with Akira a bit, we got to know her and there was build-up to the elves, their succession crisis and Amelia's relationship with her sister, sure. But now? At this pace?
Three good episodes lured me in, but this one just made this series hang by a thread. Next episode better be great.
Well that was dumb, erasing Kilika's memories and ostracising her so she doesn't feel guilty about somebody who didn't even die is just silly.
Not like the fight was even exciting either when Akira doesn't even fight back, I get Amelia doesn't want to see her hurt but c'mon make the battle more dramatic than him tripping her over a couple of times.
weren't the MC, Amelia and cat getting to know each other literally before the teleport took them
she instantly goes on being very close and familiar with MC into the "lover" mode which feels extremely rushed
i really feel like this anime is very poorly paced,
all of this episode feels like it happens in one day,
which i assume isn't the case, since the end of it was clearly pointing out that the hero team were waiting long time but couldn't do so anymore and decided to travel further.
The pacing of this show is so fast that I don't give a shit about anything going on.
Maybe the source material is better, but the anime at least is just a non stop freight train of random nonsense happening with literally no explanation or time to develop narrative weight.
So many random stupid things happened this episode, there were about 40 different plot points regarding the stuff with Kilika. There was the MC getting some random new ability that didn't seem to actually do anything and had no explanation and the mystery of it is more "what the fuck is this, what does it do and why" instead of "damn the mc got some new cool power in a weird way that's intriguing"
At this point I am just watching this for the cool retro art style and the OST by Powerless.
Also I guess I'm kind of interested in the "whole class got isekai'd" thing because I haven't seen it all that often, but I'm not sure if it will actually go anywhere.
It is quite obvious that the rushed pace of this adaption makes it harder to explain Kilika's motivations clearly. But I get the gist of it. Amelia is actually the gifted child. Kilika made a blunder and needed to be memory wiped, but everyone else remembered so their behaviour changed overnight (From Kilika's POV).
Also the Liam character is a weak tosser that let the situation get so out of hand in the first place. Amelia could have easily resolved the entire situation because she is much more talented than Kilika, but she held back to play the role of "responsible" older sister. Also explaining to Kilika why she is a terrible person would require revealing what she did in the past.
So yes, quite a convoluted story, but as family drama goes, more realistic than you think (Minus the magic).
Anyway the Akira plays the role of "Knight in Shining Armour" not once, not twice, but three times to Amelia. I can understand why she's now infatuated with him. Especially when you consider that royal marriages do not fact in desire or love, at all. You are forced to accept it without question.
Also Amelia as royalty will have huuuuge tracts of land that might become important to the MC later.
Some questions that I hope will be answered soon. Who was the one that misled a young Kilika in the past? How were the monsters able to leave the dungeon? Perhaps it ties back to the Demon Lord, or whatever.
