Mega Lizardon Y is a fraud, we must say it. Like, woa it's lizardon but with some spikes on it. (Also not having Mega Lizardon Z even on the DLC is also a fraud but we will not talk about that.)
Well, Roy did it. Roy is singing again, and it's a disater for us. I'd joked a lot about Roy singing for harchigator but IT MISS ME WHY DID HE EVOLVE HIS SONG IS WORST.
Diamant here for ranting about Roy once again because I can't say nothing.
So, I'll go quick about the first part, I'll let @tbhdrinkwater do the story part recap as always, but I would say than Friede is a antagonist now. Like. HOW THE HELL DO YOU NOT CONTACTED YOUR TEAM WHILE YOU'VE BEEN SAFE THIS WHOLE TIME AND LET CHILDRENS (and us) THAN YOU WERE DEAD FOR A FULL YEAR? EVEN SPINEL WOULDN'T DO THAT.
Also what the hell is this space program in Hoenn, you just need to yell and boum you're in space, I'm almost sure this isn't how this work in real life. Also casually learning how to mega evolve pokemon in hoenn, it make sense since in the games in ORAS we learn how to mega evolve there, it's like so random. XD
Anyway, let discuss about this fight.
I understand for the lore than it was lizardon vs lizardonfannumber1 but Roy... You had a rock type move all along, and decided to use once lizardon was standing when you spamed flamethrowers the whole fight. I get the "yeah I wanted to lizardon to not be able to move" BUT IN THAT CASE WHY YOU DIDN'T SPAMMED YOUR SUPER EFFECTIVE MOVE ALL ALONG THAN JUST DO NO DAMAGE? EVEN CHARM VOICE HAD BEEN MORE EFFECTIVE.
I guess in pure logic, it's "normal" than Roy won since friede was training for going to space all along and Roy - even if his last fights were a streak of defeat - was training his mons. In reality, it was another dumb match about spamming one move. Friede were smart with dragon claw, tera in the good time, flying in the air to have advantage. Roy got the win ONLY BECAUSE HE SING AGAIN AND THAT LET HIM LEARNED THE NEW MOVE. (And because Lizardon encouraged him.)
At this point it's really on purpose than even Roy's fights are bad when we had 2 episodes ago a dope fight with Dot.
Anyway, lastly, let's talk about the OP than changed, like always, when the series goes, the OP and END changed but in the OP we had left the blueberry academy era as it seems. It was quick tbh but guess we will be back for more actions.
(Also the post credits - after the preview of the next episode - was funny. I accept than nidothing wasn't here this week for this one. XD)
Anyway, this was the last episode of the year, we have holidays break for horizons so we will be back in 3 years, so in advance, happy holliday y'all and see you next year!
So the whole time, the whole year. Making his loved crew believe he was dead, or held captive. He just forgot to contact them WHEN HE HAD MULTIPLE CHANCES TOO. BRO HAD MORE TIME TO GO TO SPACESHIP COOL, MEET UP WITH THE FUCKING HOENN CHAMPION (flushed), BEFRIEND A STARMIE, THEN TO CONTACT HIS CREW. I think Dia's spitting Friede may be the villain cause thats just vile, Spinel you getting outdone gang do something.
As for the backstory itself I'm fine with it, a bit underwhelming but nothing bad. I'm more bewildered at how the Exceed grunts never noticed Friede was still in Rakua hell Spinel himself. It's not even like Friede was hiding well too he had his whole charizard out for the world to see and nobody still noticed him. Love anime.
Rest of the backstory is on starmie and the space trip itself leading into the group compiling all the new info they've learned. Very curious to see what he has for Rayquaza since it can't be a Mega Stone, but we're probably going to get Mega Rayquaza soon, that will be CINEMA.
Leading into another Roy snooze fest. His Skeledirge has more depth to it in this battle then Roy does. When I saw most of the preview was this I was honestly so disappointed lmao, we just got Friede back and we're gonna go battle?? Thankfully this wasn't just the whole episode, but am I crazy for saying this win doesn't feel very deserved??
Maybe thats just my 6th sense hating on Roy coming in, but Friede should've won this in the end. I mean shit he would've if he wasn't holding back, bro just has a Zard Y the whole time and kept it in the back pocket, type shit. But that battle was just so meh to me idk, Torch Song is here thankfully and thats probably why Roy won even though the anime didn't acknowledge that it raises SpAtk everytime it's used. He used it 3 times so clearly that has to be why Roy won (copium)
Honestly Ult was the best part of this episode, how he immediately thought Friede was that mf. That's my goat loved his moments. And lastly what the fuck is this tower in the opening, this gotta be where the final battle takes place. Oddly I'm getting Sky Pillar vibes from this is it just me? Didn't get everything I wanted from this episode but it was still a great one nonetheless.
Horizons was amazing this year and still the show that continues to steal my heart. Cannot wait to see it conclude next year because it most likely will. Me and @DiamantInk have literally made a thread for every episode released this year and man that feels so nice. Whole year and we're still going strong.
See y'all next year.
what could rayquaza even need to mega evolve? it normally doesn't need an item
As for charizard,im more surprised they gave some screentime to mega Y than having a mega at all.
The post credits part confused me...i didn't know what i was watching x) i hope dot sequences are back next time.
Oh yeah,we also get pecharunt next time so that should be interesting. I wonder if anyone is going to catch it
In-lore Rayquaza requires the essence of meteoroids in order to mega evolve, which it is able to do with the help of its internal organ and its meteoroid diet. Meteoroids have been identified as a source of mega stones in the games fyi.
Either the briefcase contains a huge meteoroid with a large essence of mega energy or something similar that will allow it to mega evolve after eating it. It'd be weird if they'd want to change this to a stone instead, because it wouldn't make too much sense lore wise.
