What got me hardcore into anime was when the online streaming industry started booming, specifically when Attack on Titan S1 came out, it was the very first anime I saw seasonally rather than a complete show and learned all about how anime air. The actual first anime I watched though was Black Butler. What kept my interest in anime was getting into Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and it's pretty much the reason I'm still into anime today.
@Duvet
Mhmm well you're least watched genre is Sports with only 1 entry so, didn't check to see if you'd watched any of these but I think this is a good variety to start you off.

I sort of agree with you there mostly because I don't see reviews as the objective truth but moreso as a form of validation for the shows you like but I think it depends on the person writing the review if its a negative review or not to be honest. Everyone consumes art in a different way and our relationship towards art is a very personal one at the end of the day so even when we find people who share our tastes, it's very likely they wont like it the exact same way you do. A good show for me personally is a 5/10 for example and if I had to write a review for a 5/10 show, I would speak of the positives and negatives as equally as possible but for other people who think a good show has to be a 7/10 at least it would come across as a negative review. A negative review in my eyes wouldnt be a review that goes indepth into the negatives of the show, but one that speaks of absolutely no positives.
b - feet, oviposition, selfcest, watersports. take your pick.
d - i dont really think anime is a very controversial topic in general but a lot of anime fans are... very charitable towards basically every single anime no matter how bad (everyone just wants to give a passing mark to every anime that exists) and as someone who sees flaws in every single anime out there even my absolute favourites it gets annoying when people will try to tell you your opinion sucks because you dont care enough to say nice things about anime you dont like or care for.
No problem. It's a difficult topic to really get into without talking about how every little detail can increase or decrease the cost. Theres no actual super credible source on it besides the ones that are talking about 2D VS 3D in gaming so all we can really do is try to apply that knowledge to anime while keeping in mind all the ways it would be different to gaming like the time constraints.
Theres no clear cut answer to this because the answer very much varies depending on the show but based off of what we know about CGI which is that once an object has been created in CGI, you can do pretty much whatever you want with it and move it around in any angle you want and add any lighting or texture and reuse it however you want but the initial rendering of these models can be expensive because not everybody knows how to do this and animators have to take special classes to learn how to use the technology to make 3D models in the first place (shocking surprise (/s) not many animators in japan know how to do CGI which would make them in high demand) vs 2D / hand drawn animation which doesnt require you to learn anything new and while almost every single drawing would be unique would be it is infinitely more time consuming (for the most part). It's tricky because theres so many factors to consider. I'm gonna just leave it off here cause I'm sick and otherwise I'll have written a thesis. It's easier to just google and come to your own understanding of why its more expensive.

Just dropped in to say CGI isnt cheaper, its actually more expensive usually. CGI being cheaper is a myth, most like 99% anime only resort to using it cause its faster and theres usually no way they'll be able to animate the shot by hand fast enough. Watch what you want to but dont spread pointless myths around like that.
