This is how I personally deal with fillers. If it's my first time watching an anime, I'll watch the whole anime fillers included. Then if I do go back and re-watch the anime I'll skip all the filler to save time.
Since you are re-watching it, I'd say it's ok to skip fillers. But since you haven't seen it in a while, there are some fun filler arcs that you might enjoy re-visiting. That being said, finding and distinguishing which filler arcs are actually enjoyable could be a hassle. An example of a good and enjoyable filler arc (which I personally really like) would be the 3-tails skirmish.
I wouldn't necessarily say it's a "trend." Yes, anime is gaining more and more mainstream attention and respect, but that's something we should be happy about. In the end, if more people watch anime, read manga, and buy merch, then that's more money into the industry to create more and better shows. Also, I find it quite dumb when people attack new anime fans saying shit like "oh you're only watching this for a trend" like fam, chill out, everyone has to start somewhere. You did too! That's just my opinion tho, lmk what you think!
I thought the first arc with Overhaul and everything was pretty cool and that fight was obviously dope. Then when we got the whole school festival arc, it was cute and entertaining, but for the most part it wasn't that interesting. Gentle Criminal and La Brava grew on me and in the end I did like them. But that arc as a whole really pulled down my overall rating of the season.
However, these last 2 episodes (especially this finale) were fantastic. The fight itself was crazy and I was sucked into it. But also the deeper dive into Endeavor as a character. Before this, the show has only really scraped the surface with his character and mostly we just got to see what other characters thought of him. These last two episodes really shone a different light on him and I think that a lot of people, me included, will see him in a different way now. This shit was hella good.
I thought it was a good episode and could have 100% served as the end, at least as the end to the first season as it wraps up the main Elf/Eye of the Midnight Sun story. Then give us a little breather break before picking up with the teaser of Julius' new form that we got at the end, in a new second season. However, at the end of the day I love Black Clover and won't complain about just continuously receiving new episodes. Also I haven't read the manga and don't know how the story progresses, so this was just my take based on how the anime has been thus far.
