Oh I know that is the intention of the author. That was basically a rant. But I know(and probably wrote somewhere) that Griffith is not the typical white knight saving the people from poverty and hunger, that's what makes the series so intriguing and also why I said Griffith gives me 666 vibes. I know he is the 'darkness' and I was expressing that I would like his life to terminated as soon as possible because there will be a final showdown between the protagonist and the antagonist and either the utopia he builds (or if the fight happens to come before he actually completes it, utopia he doesn't build) will start to crumble, because their veil of protection is him. So on one part, I want him to be there. On the other hand, he is just plain evil despite the fact that he has feelings and ambitions and he deserves karma.
Yes, I did said the world of Berserk is full of contradictions( I should probably edit that part out). Very poor choice of words on my part. I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused by my mistake. I definitely should have read the thread before I replied.
I hear your screams and I accept them.
I never said that they contradict each other, I think you have misread. Anyway, Gats appears to be on the darker side while his intentions are obviously on the light side, while Griffith being all white and angelic is a piece of shit(seriously, read through the replies, I'm tired of having to explain). They are on two opposite ends donning their opposing appearances. It's a very interesting concept and it obviously has me hooked.
Is Griffith doing a good thing creating a utopia? Yes. Are other parts of the world other than his utopia suffering? Greatly. Will there be grave consequences? Yes, there is already a disruption caused by the too obvious presence of the spiritual presence in the physical world. Unless you think an Attack on titan situation(a great country living behind a wall, shielded from the dangers outside) will be the perfect end to this marvellous story, then I guess its not so bad then.
I would say more, but I don't think I have to. The point of your screaming is kinda mute now.
Good question. Analysing every direction that the story might go given its very brutal pasts. There will be a lot more deaths, devastation, pain which I won't mind if we hadn't gone so far into. Gats might die(I won't be too sad, but I still don't want it). Some people I've cried in relief for might die, and I'm already feeling frustrated in anticipation.
I'm also kinda crazy going in every couple of months and realising that there's no new updates. Sometimes I'm too lazy to read new stuff and berserk was my introduction to violent anime. It made a huge impact so after I watch something blood pumping, I go back. Just recently watched vinland saga so.....
The author honestly might be tired. It's been 20 some years so I really hope that its not bad writing, that will be a arrow through my heart. Maybe he wrote himself into a kind of writers block, I don't know. There's a few plot holes that he can fill in the mean time though, so the worst might not happen. I do suspect(a bit too much) that he's a bit of a troll though.
Thank you for listening to my rant. It's unwinding me slowly.
@jankengun I understand perfectly what you mean, and I did say that their characters are muddled. I have been following the manga for at least 3 years now and I have read it from start to finish, and also seen the movies and the series.
Now, Griffith did make a huge sacrifice during the eclipse, but then, it was hardly his sacrifice. He condemned his allies to death and there are 2 loose ends suffering because they are also part of his 'sacrifice'. And somehow, if you've read the manga it all did start with Gats being the only one who can stop the unnatural amount of ether(I don't remember what they call it) flowing into the physical world by killing Griffith(I assume, no, it was suggested.)
He honestly might end up being the good guy, he probably already is. Being chosen and everything. But you see, his power isn't good. At least not where it came from. It makes every light spirit afraid, he is imbalancing nature and there are already cracks. All the fairies and light spirits and witches believe that at least. The world isn't what it should be, all because he wants to be king. That is a pretty selfish ambition(Not saying he's doing bad at all though)
He's making an utopia yet all I see again is the eclipse. His reasons might be good. But whatever gave him that power was not and he is bound to that thing no matter what and there will be consequences. He is the only unnatural thing in his utopia(among the humans at least) and it feels like everyone else is heading full speed towards a cliff.
Honestly, the whole thread is mostly a rant as I was pulling my hair in anger as I wrote. I might be wrong, but as the manga is right now it can't yet be decided.
But in my fully bias opinion, Griffith is evil incarnate. He had a choice. And he made the choice he did.
