I think it's a big issue of you either love it or hate it. For me, I loved it as a huge filmography nut. I love the lighting, atmosphere and the tone so much that it feels perfect for me. I understand the problems that people have with the anime, but I and many others really loved it.

man i cannot wait for season 2, the last look between shima and mitsumi gotta be the cutest thing i've ever seen in my life, shima's life is changing, he's so much more free! they both deserve the best...

yeah, i agree. though his method of writing does work in a lot of ways, the stuff about unohana and harribel is annoying to be left on such cliffhangers. apparently more story elements for these two characters are shown in the novels but i wouldn't know bc i haven't read them yet.

have we been reading the same manga? a lot of kubo's greatness comes from his show-not-tell writing style and i think it works personally.
