BANGER EPISODE. my glorious king julius finally getting his spotlight. gluttony is truly the bane of all evil. THEY NEED TO DIE ASAP.
reinhard pulling up was so fucking hype and everything the studio does with capella they just go all out on, they really love her.
What is Al's ability that makes him say the stuff he was saying???
AND THAT TITLE CARD CHANGE AT THE END. THAT WAS AMAZING. WHAT A WAY TO KEEP THE EPISODE GOING.
Hard for me to put my thoughts together with this episode. I am a light novel reader and this was my favourite scene in the entire arc. That being said:
This episode was absolutely fantastic. I think it is one of this season's strongest episodes. I loved the backstory, the voice acting and the soundtrack. The animation seemed all over the place and the directing of the episode could've been better, but nonetheless it was a really good episode. It did get me in the feels.
However, the adaptation is mediocre. The content that was cut is pretty important. I think her conflict with the sword could've been done much better. It hit a lot harder in the light novel but for I cannot put my finger on why it felt so emotional reading it, maybe because it was my first time experiencing it? The post-credit scene was absolutely fire though, i thought they adapted this part really well, line for line.
TLDR - The episode was really good, but the adaptation was mediocre. This is the result of the source material being so good that no matter how bad the adaptation is, the final result would still be amazing, but yet would also disappoint the LN readers. A blessing for anime-onlys. A curse for LN readers.
The animation was TOP TIER. Vincent Chansard absolutely popped off with his work in Re:Zero. My jaw literally dropped the entire sequence cos I was never expecting this from Re:Zero.
On-top of the animation, Garfiel's character continues to grow too, his scene with Elsa was done so damn well. Props to Studio Whitefox for this week.
correction: it will be 30 minutes long

Animation was on fire today, but you can tell they were on a budget with some of the shots they animated, for example when Subaru, Emilia and Regulus were sliding down the ice ramp and it looked like a PNG moving. Happy to see Emilia cooking on the battlefield and Subaru continues to be the mastermind behind all his battles. Regulus facial expressions are too funny and looks like Reinhard is about to pull off something on the moon. Sirius vs Priscilla (battle of the baddies) seems to be setting up for something cinematic. Can't wait for next week!
Would like to point out that I am NOT a fan of the fan service this season. Re:Zero has never been an anime that focused on that.
