one piece is objectively bad tho, at least the anime is. i mean the manga has went to shit with the panneling and stuff but at least the story is still decent, but lets be real, one piece is not all that. maybe witt's adaptation can change that, but as it is right now, one piece is way too long for no reason, and i say that as someone who caught up to ep 900 (last ep at the time) within 6 months of starting it. i watched weekly for 2 years until i gave up, months would go by while they would still be dealing with the same scene and the same characters just because they need to stretch out the anime so it doesnt catch up to the source material. hopefully the new format changes that, but still 1100 episodes of that can't be overshadowed by possibly decent pacing in the last 200 or so episodes that the show probably has left.
tldr people don't hate one piece because it's too long, they hate it because its dragged out which is a very valid issue to have with a show, because lets be real unless you are in highschool or don't have a social life, noone in their right mind is spending like 350-400h on catching up on anime, like you can watch 200 movies or 50-100 other great shows in that time period.
ye, the cinematography and the way they go about making these episodes is what makes jjk so great imo. i usually really dont care for shounen, i will watch some if they are good but i dont care for it, but jjk is one of my favorite anime. (s1 was just ok, if the show stayed that way until the end, i probably wouldn't have cared for it at all)
i really hope stuff like this becomes way more popular, so that the shows with greater budgets can experiment and really be unique and not just decent show 1 and decent show 2. like one piece did something similar mid wano arc where they went from just decent average shounen stuff to something that focuses more on being beautiful.
he has to rush things, otherwise the show would suffer. if he stretched the stuff out, then the fights would have to be dragged out, and everything would get stale and annoying, kinda like what happened with wano in one piece. the author knows that he should wrap things up quickly before it becomes too much.
ye idk, from what i remember the clan discussion happened and then she and mai were stuck in that room with all the curses, mai killed herself and then maki became goku and killed the entire clan, but like they were mentioning her heavenly restriction so i figured that maybe that stuff happened offscreen or duing the newest movie that was supposedly a recap but idk lol i guess i just got the wrong idea and she still hasnt evolved.
