I can see where you are coming from, but for me I think the pacing isn't too bad. It definitely doesn't set the mood as good as the manga, but I think this will be fine for the people that haven't read the manga and just jumped into the series for the first time. I do recommend reading the manga afterwards if the story piques any interest.
