This will def turn into a hate watch lmao nostalgy could never save this...
The og anime already had overall bad animation but this one feels like i'm watching a wii game playthrough, the 3D models are so rough and stiff, and the poor lighting and editing is not helping
Even the ending song wich is a cover of the og opening feels off, the interpret sings faster, he probably want the episode to end asap too
my feelings haven't changed since S1. It's entertaining, lovable characters, good animation (especially the fight scenes) but at the ends they are just boy scouts, it feels off, behind the delinquent aesthetic, they are not rebels, it misses the whole point of what usually makes Furyo (and rebel youth culture in general) so thrilling and endearing
Not bad but lacks guts
Koharu is a certified groomer, kinda threw me off tbh, I'm happy to see in the comments I'm not the only one
Some will say it's okay because the protags are older that the japanese AOC and because they are almost 18 but even if there's nothing illegal, it's still morally not right for me, even she is conscious she is hitting on high-schoolers
Disappointed by Koneko, it should have been his moment but he literally just evade attacks and got his ass saved by a cat
Suguro's fight was slightly disappointing too, but hearing him reciting the Amida Mantra and have a moment of introspection was nice tho
This season as a whole is a let down for me, still gonna watch to the end, maybe it will get better but it's already a bit too late now
I agree that Rap and Hip-Hop in general is for everyone, but I also agree that people sould not forget it was created by lower social classes, the impression that some rich people take hip-hop as just a game is a valid sentiment, the truth lies in the sincerity of the artist in my opinion, and I think the episode does a good job showing that everyone can suffer and express it in the form of rap as long as their artistic approach is sincere
The first few fights of the second invasion are mid imo
It's interesting to see the captains fighting with new strategies to compensate for their bankai but they recover their bankai too quickly, making that stolen bankai plotpoint feels useless
Not exploiting more the concept of hollowfied bankai is a missed opportunity too
Some Captains get killed too quickly, (Kubo why do you hate the Vizards that much ??)
Kyoraku not doing shit is frustrating
Mask de Masculine is funny but his power is so OP he got killed by Renji's plot sword
With that said, some incredible fights are coming next so i'm not pessimistic
Also, looks like the anime is going to explore deeper the lore around Ywach and the Soul King and if it goes in a similar direction than the novel's lore, then it's gonna be a great plus for this adaptation
Some people are disappointed by the "Tenjou Tenge Yuiga Dokuson" scene, to me it's because they misinterpreted it in the manga
This scene is not expressing Gojo's arrogance or confidence at all
This phrase "Throughout Heaven and Earth, I alone am the Honored One" (a more litteral translation would be "Above Heaven and under Heaven, I alone am worthy of honor") is, as most people already know, a common quote attributed to the Buddha Shakyamuni in the chinese buddhist cannon
It's actually a deformation of the Buddha saying he is the highest in this world because he attained Buddhahood and freed himself from the cycle of rebirth, making him superior to Deva (gods) and humans alike
In that scene, Gojo reach a higher level of comprehension of Jujutsu and the mechanics behind cursed energy, making him develop a far greater power than he had before, and this is compared to an enlightment to Buddhahood, hence the divine aesthetic
At this moment, Gojo is not arrogant, he realized he's the most powerful being and just states it as a fact
Shinji seems rather popular to me tho, not top tier but still more than Ukitake
And I don't think seeing everyone bankai is necessary
Bankai should not be showed just to be seen, they should have relevance within the story, the most forgettable bankai are those that are thrown randomly in fight (Kensei, Komamura, Tosen or Shinji in that last episode...) while even mid bankai like Renji or Ikaku are memorable because they serve a narrative purpose
And I don't think you can fit Ukitake's bankai in his personal plot, that's not what his character development is about
And we probably don't see Aizen bankai because he is already OP without it (and a theory suggests he might not even has one, and he tricked everybody else into thinking he has one with his shikai)
Unpopular opinion but I don't think teasing Shinji's bankai was such a good idea, because there was already little room for it in the source manga (hence why it wasn't shown in the first place) so you can't give it much more light and weight in these 5 minutes to kill random Quincies NPCs
I love Shinji and i'm happy to see him having more screentime and a bankai reveal but I think it should just have been a nice little surprise
I love seeing Cang Du martial art moves in animation, really badass
The Vollständig all having different colors is also a great touch
The post-ending scene makes me think we'll probably get the Soul King's backstory (that we only learn about in the LN) and that's a great thing because his story adds a ton of depths to this conflict and even inspire some crazy theories
Looks like the "christian" setting is more of an aesthetic rather than an actual background with christian values or themes, kinda like the churches in Dragon Quest or other JRPG
Not saying it's a bad thing, I don't care about that since I'm not christian and even if it was my religion I wouldn't take an anime that seriously about religion, just thought it was interesting to pointing it out
I like that 1st episode, really cute and wholesome
