People who feel this way honestly baffle me. Because something has been a certain way for a long time does not mean it has to stay that way. People used to drink raw milk, humans used to lots of things. It's also a horible logical fallacy to say: "you've presented valid arguments for something which is arguably wrong for a multitude of reasons. However, it's not new so live with it or beat it."
I've watched a lot more than you from the looks of it, because I enjoy a good story whether it be anime, manga, manhua, books or movies. However, this does not excuse ignoring clear negative themes in literary works. Your statement presents a logical fallacy.
Also, late resonse but I saw the original comment which exposed your true feelings. Why change it?
Pretty sure these are psychlogical thrillers.
Dororo
Cyberpunk Edgerunners
PLUTO
Attack on Titan
Tokyo Ghoul
I'd say these fit pretty well into that category. The last 2 are the best in terms of actually having a deep storyline though.
The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten
An Archdemons Dilemma How to Love Your Elf Bride
Orange
Kiznaiver
There are so many...
All of these are absolute peak.
Alderamin on the Sky
Cyberpunk Edgerunners
Dororo
Magi Adventure of Sinbad
PLUTO
Ranking of Kings
Nodame Cantabile
Terror in Resonance
Anohana The Flower We Saw That Day
Sorry for the information overload, you've probably watched some of these anyways. I have more reccomndations if you want.
Well, my intention behind that line was exactly what I wrote. I believe that in books, anime, or whatever media, my enjoyment and favoritism of the piece don't necessarily depend on its quality. Take, for example, Bleach is one of my favorite shows, maybe my top, but 86 and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners are rated higher. While all three, unlike my statement, are a part of my favorites, the level at which I enjoyed them does not reflect in the rating because I feel the other two are simply written better.
For the things i consider to be good, I have 20 numbers worth of rating. And for the bad stuff, i have 80. If you look through my ratings, you can see i have 2s, 3s and 4s. I js think that theres a lot of good stuff that are really close to me, mentally, in ranking.
Also, my favourites aren't my highest rated shows, and neither are my highest rated shows my favorites. I think that thinking a show is a complete masterpiece does not necceraily make it important to me. It'd take some time to explain this in terms of anime. But when I read novels, its very clear.
I do agree though, that the ratings become less specific the lower they get. I've basically used every decimal number between 7 and 10. However, the decimals become less apparents in the 2s and 3s. But yes, to me, there is a difference in 1, 2 and 3. If you're interested, I'm willing to explain it in detail.
You can look through my replies, I never said anyone's rating scale was weird. In fact, I read all of them, took time to understand and told the commentor so. The post was not asking why these rating scales were "weird" it was asking why they are different. I genuinly wanted to understand the perspective of other users. And many of them, respectfully, took the time to understand my view and explain theirs instead of labelling it as "ragebait". I very much appreciate those people.
