But they didn't do that because of what happened with their ancestor... They did that because the king is a dumbass that still think he can exploit them.
They literally say it's because he instigated the kidnapping

So I'm guessing we're not gonna have the academy arc in the end. I would recommend people who like the anime to read the manga, the things are better explained and it goes an arc or two further than the anime

I personally have been prefering this kind of slice of life isekai more than the serious one like Slime or Tate for a few years now. Also make for a better watch in the background.

Speaking of Sui, it's a bit sad they never used the post ending to do the Sui no daibouken manga scenes

It's sad to see that good animations with how crap the rest was when there are more interesting anime that could've use it.....

I'm not one to expect much but this was really bad as a first episode

I was waiting for that scene. It had a bit more impact when I read the manga but I guess having read it already reduced it a bit.
I wasn't badly produced and that's nice. The explanation was a bit short though, guess the rest of the episodes will expand a bit on it.

It's really annoying that the quality is so bad because in term of adaptation, it's actually pretty much 1:1 with the manga (from what I can recall).

Damn, even knowing it was coming, that ending got me teary.

Dunno what it is with this serie but something felt off all the way from ep 1 to 12. I'm guessing it's the storytelling.
They had good ideas tho, siding Ryo a bit to develop side characters but they went way too far with it.
The 20 years at the start didn't really felt like it was that long, it felt like a few weeks...

In the end the show became more about everything but Ryo....

So yeah, lot a potentially good ideas but messed up.

The sad thing is that it's not even good enough for me to keep it as anime I could rewatch because there's isn't even enough slice of life for that.

Haven't read it in a long time but it might be interesting if they don't focus too much on the wrong things.

It's probably that way because they can't have a season 2. The show probably didn't have enough audience to justify one.
