Usagi Drop
It's the sweetest thing I have ever experienced, I swear that every time I watch it my heart just goes into full melting mode. I have watched it five times already and I don't plan on stopping any time soon
Clannad After Story
Also this one because it made me feel such a roller coaster of emotions that I have to mention it, I never want to go again from pure happiness, to uncontrollable crying, to happiness again and a bit of nostalgia when it all ended.
@4digitmen Oh, hey! funny to see you again.
Watch Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryoukou... Now...
Passive agressive threats aside, if what you didn't like about it was the world building, I can maybe see why you dropped it, but I still would encourage you to try to watch it again since it actually has a pretty decent world building, the thing is that it's very subtle and it's rarely brought up by the characters explicitly, so you have to pay more attention to everything to understand how the world worked before.
As a little snippet I'm gonna say that one of the best subtle details about the whole series is actually in the protagonists designs... Not going to say exactly what it is... But it's pretty heartwarming once you notice it.
The thing is that there are people/cyborgs who question the situation/system, it's just that no matter how many there are, the humans are dealt with efficiently by agents like Kaburagi, whose job at the start was to kill said "bugs" and the cyborgs are scrapped by Hugin. Also, the Cyborgs kinda have it easy to not go against the system because they are provided basically everything they need.
Your second point is kinda true though, not gonna lie. Maybe overconfidence that bugs would just die out slowly there? Not really going to defend that one.
I used to think that a show's overall quality was what determined if it was enjoyable or not, as if treating it like a math problem with a clear-cut solution...
Surprise surprise, things aren't that simple and after realizing that people have this strange thing called opinions, I understood that sometimes people like things even though they might not be that "good". That's how I used to explain the fact that some people liked shows that I thought were bad because "Objective Reasons"
And then I started watching classics that people praised as if they were God's gift to the world... And I didn't like them, for reasons I could describe and point out... Then I watched some shows that people that I respected as critics hated or thought were simple and had nothing of substance... And I fucking loved them, for, again, reasons that I could debate and write about.
That's when I realized that enjoyment comes out from one's vision of what is actually "good" or "bad" and that for anime, which is an art form, there's really not an objective way of criticizing shows, as even categories like animation can be subjective.
So at the end, everyone has reasons for liking what they like, nobody should feel preasured to give a higher or lower grade to a show just because "Everybody agrees that this is good/bad", all opinions are valid while discussing about a show and holy shit while writing this I remembered how good Harukana Receive was so I'm probably going to watch it again... like... right now, thanks for your attention bye. (Go watch Harukana Receive if you like character dramas ok now really tootles)
I tend to like literal shows better, as sometimes more abstract works walk the line between actually being thought provoking and just being a jumbled mess that's using the "Deep and phylosophical" tag to hide the fact that is a jumbled mess, though there are some pretty good metaphorical shows that I've enjoyed
@Purinsesu Given the amount of little girls in your favorites I'm going to proceed to call the police, do not resist please
@4digitmen
Says Girl's Last Tour is boring
Thinks FLCL and Evangelion are good
BOI you and I have almost polar tastes
Except for Psycho Pass I guess, maybe I forgive you for that
@Yuneko Eyyy, finished the movie and... What can I say? It hit like a truck... Really didn't expect her to die that way, at first I thought it was kind of a dick move from the writer's part, but I guess he wanted to express how sometimes life is that unfair and all, but still, jeez
On a less depressing note, the movie had a really good cinematography, I think I'm gonna follow the director's work more closely now. And it's art direction reminded me a lot of Makoto Shinkai's work.
Thanks for reccomending it to me dude!
Question 1: Favorite Male Character
-Definitely Simon, from Gurren Lagann, I love his whole character arc.
Question 2: Favorite Female Character
-That would be Akane Tsunemori, from Psycho Pass, also again because of her character growth over the whole series.
Question 3: Worst Male Character
This motherfu--
y'all know what he did, don't try to deny it.
Question 4: Worst Female Character
This b--
Mainly because I think she's annoying and really creepy and shouldn't be so whiny all the time (but that's more of a personal thing)
Question 5: Favorite Ship
-That would be Mirai Kuriyama and Akihito Kanbara, from Kyoukai no Kanata, if you watched that show you know that they're really freaking cute together.
(If I could have a runner up I would put Chiaki Nanami and Hajime Hinata, from the Danganronpa series because they're also really cute, but lose out because they don't have that much screen time together, even if you count their games)
Question 6: Favorite FriendShip
-Definitely Kumiko Oumae and Kousaka Reina from Hibike Euphonium. Not really much I have to say about those two, I just really like both of them and how they complement so well with one another.
Question 7: Favorite Quote (If you want to put)
"Mark my words! This drill will open a hole in the universe! And that hole will be a path for those behind us! The dreams of those who've fallen! The hopes of those who'll follow! Those two sets of dreams weave together into a double helix! Drilling a path towards tomorrow! And that's Tengen Toppa! That's Gurren Lagann!! My drill is the drill...that pierces through the heavens!!!"
Epicity encarnate.
Question 8: Saddest Character Death
Spoilers about Clannad: After Story.
You know the one... Nagisa why...
Question 9: Happiest moment in anime
- Usagi Drop as a whole is the happiest thing ever concieved by mankind.
Question 10: Funniest moment
Spoilers for Grisaia no Kajitsu.
That one flashback where Sachi's parents get run over by a truck. I think it's the timing combined with the fact that it's so cliched that I bursted out laughing for two minutes straight.
Question 11: Saddest moment in anime
-That one scene in Clannad: After Story where Ushio just starts criying her heart out in Tomoya's arms, that one hit like a fucking truck.
Question 12: Favorite Location
-I'm gonna guess this one means a place from an anime I would like to live on and I think I would choose the area of Tokyo where 3-Gatsu no Lion takes place, since it looks so pretty in the anime.
Question 13: Favorite Battle
-Probably would have to choose the Bakugo and Midoriya fight from BNHA's 3rd season, since it carries so much weight in each character's arc's and is such a stepping stone for what's to come.
Question 14: Favorite Anime
Usagi Drop
go watch that. now
Question 15: Favorite Manga (If you have)
Favorite Manga would be:
Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou
And I'm gonna put my favorite Light Novel because why not.
Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria
go read 'em both. they're good.
