No matter how many times I re-watch this film, I can never shed even a single tear. However, it always leaves me depressed, even that for a day or two after each re-watch.
Grave of the Fireflies
This one is more of a recent entry. Keep in mind that I actually hate this anime but it has moments where the audience's emotions are captured perfectly despite being lackadaisical. Some of those moments still kind of mess with me and those moments are separate from the entirety of the show.
YUNO A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of This World
If you're like me or anyone who grew up watching the original, you'll know some of the disappointments that we fans had to endure. While this isn't a perfect adaptation, it has its own unique moments. To be fair, it could have avoided many messes but despite all such flaws it doesn't jest to say that this adaptation left us all in a state of conundrum. The ending of this series is unlike FMAB and, no one can truly say that they were satisfied with it. Which is why sometimes, it kind of feels depressing to think that the Elric brothers would undergo such a conclusion. This adaptation hit me more emotionally.
Fullmetal Alchemist
If you've watched Iron-Blooded Orphans, you know how much of a lukewarm installment this series was. With the appeal of 00, this series had its foundation pretty much setup. At the last season, it sacrifices all that in order for the plot to progress, something that is still controversial. Any fan of the series can truly say how depressing the aftermath feels, given all the labour and hardwork that these characters had worked for.
In essence, Season 2 was a mess but it was still an emotional rollercoaster and that left me pretty shambled for weeks.
Mobile Suit GUNDAM Iron Blooded Orphans 2
Time to drive into nostalgia lane again. The History of Trunks is perhaps the only time in all of Dragon Ball that I ever teared up to a character's death. Dragon Ball in essence kind of butchers deaths as a whole with its premise of the Dragon Ball, therefore not leaving much of any room for emotional appeal. Although there have been moments where such deaths have been executed really well. However, History of Trunks changed all that: it goes through what was supposed to be the original timeline of Dragon Ball Z. Given that Dragon Balls are no longer usable, death became a permanent part of this timeline and that means failing even once means no point in return. The atmosphere of this movie generates the feel that you're watched 'Hokuto No Ken' or something dark. It delivers just as much, we see almost every Z-Fighter die in this film and when the last one dies, there's an emotional tsunami that just wrecks right through the screen as even young Trunks breaks down at the sad reality he's met with. To this day, I'm still lightly haunted by how genius Toriyama's original idea of Dragon Ball was, yet he chose to go down a path that would be more suited for a younger demography.
Dragon Ball Z The History of Trunks
Note: Top is favourite, rest are for the sake of exhibition DX ....
Childhood favourite:
(Linkin Park AMVs in the early 2000s made me get into anime more than anything).
I grew up with a lot of rock and metal around the house since my elder brother was always jamming it on his Pentium PC back then. Metallica's One is one classic I can't ever get off of my mind.
I still thank my friend for introducing me to Scorpions back in my early days of primary school.
Given my love for the MGS series, I couldn't tell the difference when I first heard the ending theme of NieR Replicant/Gestalt:
(It's either this or Shadowlord - though all OSTs from NieR are stellar).
If I ever want to feel nostalgic yet fall asleep at the same time, I owe my life to this hymn:
Of course, who could forget romantic era composition like this:
Just to put one anime song out there, the Haendal remarks of this piece from Kaijura just amazes me:
(I'm surprised that I'm only person to even cover this specific track on YouTube. It deserves a proper cover).
@VirtuousZero I always promise to watch a series with dude but then I disappear.
Sayonara Zetsubuou Sensei.
@Memerino This sucker said we'd watch some shit, then disappears when we're about to.
If I ever used my real name, people still wouldn't know it's my real name - which is a good thing, I suppose. ( Whoever knows my real name and stumbles upon this , don't you dare make even one banter -.- ) .
My name is one of many characters I came up with for fictional reasons during my pre-teens. Before settling on this as my alias, I had another primary character I thought I would use as my alias; however, this one seemed to make more sense. Typical and very easy to believe : ) .
@yuyumi 5/10, try again.
I don't feel proud of my accomplishments because they're just a bit of salt on the meat. I also shit on those who feel the slightest bit of pride over anything.
Reason: I don't know why, it feels ethically coherent to be devoid of pride and act as the pride police.
P.S. Of course, I'm just shitposting here.
