Visually, it's a total spectacle—MAPPA really flexed their animation skills, and the action scenes are some of the most cinematic I've seen in anime recently. The fight choreography (with help from Chad Stahelski) is intense and slick, and the cyberpunk world looks great.
That said, the storytelling didn't quite hit the mark for me. It starts off with some intriguing ideas—transhumanism, utopia vs. control, etc.—but it doesn't always explore them as deeply as it wants to. Some moments felt rushed or overly familiar, like it was echoing themes from other sci-fi stories without adding much new.
The soundtrack is easily one of the highlights though. Kamasi Washington, Bonobo, Floating Points—it’s a dream team. The music gives the series a unique energy and atmosphere that really elevates the overall experience.
In the end, LAZARUS is ambitious and stylish, but a bit uneven.
