It's psychic (?) powers, not drugs. The psychics can get into other people's heads, read their mind, make them see things that aren't real. The little kid in the beginning had those powers but couldn't control them, and as a result was overwhelmed and drowning in his mother's mind. Also that same kid is now grown up and working for the suit guy - you can recognize him by the scar on his forehead. Besides the kid, there're two other young psychics (the 'gay' lodgers) working for the man.

I adore the parallel between Thorfinn's dad and Askeladd in this episode. Thors was killed by Askeladd's men's arrows, while Thorfinn could only look on, helpless; now Askeladd's almost died the exact same way, but this time, Thorfinn won't allow it. It's like he's gotten a second chance to save his dad. And by now, Askeladd really is like his father, even more so than Thors; Thorfinn always does things Askeladd's way, never Thors', no matter how much he hates the former and worships the latter.
It's also really cool Thors and Askeladd both faced these nearly identical situations because they willingly sacrificed themselves (or at least tried to buy some time, in Askeladd's case) to protect others, though their motivations were anything but alike.

Death Parade's an original series

I binge-watch pretty much everything except for episodic Slice of Life that have little to no action and/or overarching plot - I can only enjoy those in smaller doses - and I take only tiny breaks between the stories, if any.
But then again, if I like a show, I'm more than happy to rewatch it, and since I already know the plot, I no longer feel the urge to get through it all at once. Instead, I watch it slowly and try to catch up on the little things I missed during the binge. So far it's been working out for me just fine. :))

I'm currently watching
Minamike and, contrary to all expectations, it's pretty good. Few comedies had me laughing this much, anime or otherwise. :))

Other than that, I really enjoyed this lot:

Song Showcase: Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom

Damn, that little boy's video got me all emotional, I even teared up a bit. I hope his father'll be all right.

We've got some shady characters in every corner now, but the most suspicious for me is...Seizaki. Idk but the way he talk about how his new partner is "more useful" than Fumio somehow made me raised my eyebrow.

The other guy's reaction was even weirder though - he pretty much implied Fumio was so useless than even being 10 times as useful as him wouldn't mean much, and Seizaki freaking laughed. Is that a way to talk about a deceased person you're supposed to be avenging? Or about a colleague who's standing right there within earshot? Doesn't have to mean anything though, wouldn't be surprised if it was just stress getting the better of him.
Speaking of the new female colleague, I sure hope she won't turn out to be the psychotic Magase woman, that would be cheap.
