So this episode revealed a lot of things. People who said that it felt like an anime from the 2000s then give a pat yourself on the back, glad some people caught on that. Yes, Summer Pockets takes place in the year 2000! The anime doesn't directly confirm the year but the visual novel does.
We also now learned Umi's relation to Shiroha and Hairi. Visual novels readers were kind of annoyed by the fact that the anime made it very obvious with all the foreshadow scenes, but now the truth is finally revealed.
Overall I think this episode was pretty good. Got to see all the other girls in some bits, very wholesome scene between Umi, Shiroha and Hairi. Studio feel. MIGHT nail the Alka route, let's hope.
Heads up, ranting time (I don't rant often, Tsumugi is just very beloved to me so that's why I have to do this.)
Okay, say that I have unreasonable expectations and I know well that you can't adapt a visual novel perfectly at all, but the most impactful scene of the arc just didn't....hit? I don't know why they decided to re-record "Tsumugi's Summer Vacation" with Iwai Emiri but it wasn't a great decision because it doesn't sound as good as the original. Also they re-arranged a bunch of lines of the song (and several were cut) which was not it.
Here is the original version (with lyrics):
There were some details during the candle scenes that didn't land for me either. They decided to make them sit instead of walking between the candles...Hairi is not crying as much. It supposed to be a very difficult moment for him, trying to smile through everything while being unable to stop himself from crying. And when finally Tsumugi disappears, he is absolutely devastated. The anime didn't really capture those feelings...
Like this (pictures from the Visual Novel):

Okay, these can be considered as nitpicks but there is one thing that absolutely got me fuming.
Visual Novel spoilers for Tsumugi route:
They cut the entire reunion of Tsumugi and Tsumugi-chan. Tsumugi-chan was the reason why Tsumugi even returned a year later because she realized that Tsumugi got her own people to care about, including a lover. But in the anime she just...returns.... no explanation whatsoever. One thing I admit I liked that Umi is the one who brought her back to Tsumugi-chan, that was actually a neat touch but they decided not to capitalize on that.

Yes, I know, I know. I'll say it once again: they can't include everything at all since it's a visual novel, it's not what I'm asking for. Just make the impactful scenes, as good as the original. That's all I wanted from this episode. There are plenty of good visual novel adaptations: CLANNAD After Story, Kanon 06, Steins;Gate. They are an amazing adaptation and they were all visual novels. They knew where to cut corners, how to change things to make the show flow better and they absolutely made sure the GREAT scenes were as as good as the original stuff.
To end this comment on a more positive note: I'm happy to see Summer Pockets animated but it could've been done much better and I'm happy I got to see Tsumugi like this, she is so important to me.
Rant end.
Not just that. The entire talk about Hungaria was a reference to Hungary!
The city pretty much resembles Budapest the capital, including it's famous bridge the "Lánchíd".
Obda is the capital to Hungaria, but it's name is very closely resembling one of it's small areas in Budapest called Óbuda.
Even the wine that Yuri brought with him is a reference to Hungary's expertise in wine.
As a Hungarian I was speechless seeing all these references to my country. I really loved this episode.
