On the one hand, there is no such thing as objective good or objective bad. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, tastes and favorites.
On the other hand, if you're not prepared to defend these things, do not share them online, because people using the internet for anonymity can be straight up nasty about things they disagree with.
Those are interesting points, but my whole issue was that if you post a review, and it gets bumped off the front page too soon, it doesn't get nearly as much attention as a review that gets to stay up for an entire day, and I'm trying to suggest a system that would take all of that cruel randomness out of the equation.
That's a good point if you're reviewing popular shows, or seasonals, but if you're reviewing something more obscure? How many eyes are going to be on it, except for when it's on the front page?
Seeing it on the front page might spark curiosity, or remind people that it exists. My most recent review was of Yuushibuu, and how many people are just casually venturing onto the Yuushibuu listing to see if any new reviews have been posted?
If the only answer to this problem is "Everyone should just review popular anime and seasonals," then not everyone wants to do that.
Look, here is all you would have to tell people.
"Hey guys, we know it's been frustrating for some of you with how review exposure works around here, so we've created a two-tier setup for review uploads.
If you pick the new tier, you'll get a guaranteed 24 hour feature on the front page, although it might take a while to show up.
If you don't want to do this, simply choose the second tier, which works the same way the site has always worked, so you won't hae to get used to any new changes whatsoever.
You can choose your tier while publishing your review!
Any further questions about the intricacies of this system can be addressed in the comments below."
Yeah, people are also complaining about how easy it is to have a review killed off because you posted it at the wrong time, see MY post on the issue. I'm still here because of the time I've already spent here, the overall vibe of the community, and the fact that my only other reviewing option is MAL which is way worse, and the idea that things can get better.
Do not think, though, that I haven't contemplated quitting this site multiple times because of how hard poor timing has screwed my reviews over.
That being said, if my solution is too complex, then what have you and the other admin come up with? What solutions have you found that are simpler and less potentially intimidating to the average user?
You saw where I said there would be two separate tiers, right?
The second tier would be the exact same thing we have now. If they post to THAT tier, they wouldn't have to deal with the queue leading to the first tier. They wouldn't have to deal with any issues that they aren't already dealing with now.
Anybody worrying about how the order tier might affect seasonal reviews would be perfectly able to use the chaos tier instead.
Literally nobody would be punished.
To be absolutely clear, both tiers would appear on the front page at the same time, they would just be moving differently.
The bar on the right would go

I can't stand censored nudity. It bothers me to an irrational degree.
I will accept anime with no nudity whatsoever, and I will accept nudity with visible bare boobs that the audience can see, but the second I see steam censoring, hair censoring, light beam censoring, or camera work that goes out of it's way to frame a nude character in a censoring manner, an anime automatically loses one or two points with me.
It's not even a gooning thing, I'm not trying to get off or anything, but it just feels so hypocritical and transparent to me. Why would you include something in your story if you can't show it to the audience? What is even the point?
If you're making an adult-oriented anime... not a hentai, just like an ecchi or whatever... For an intended adult audience, why would you jam pack your anime wall to wall with naked characters only to obscure their nipples at every opportunity? Who are you trying to protect?
The worst of it is probably shows where they're able to show objectively a lot worse than nipples, but still draw that line. I've made this example before, but right in Goblin Slayer, you have scenes with full-body shots of women being raped by monsters, but they're still very careful to make sure her hair is covering her boobs, because yeah, THAT's the offensive part.
And for people to act like nipples are the dividing line that decides whether nudity is sexual or not... That is just objectively not true, and flat out idiotic.
And I find it incredibly annoying that this sort of thing isn't taken into account when the Nudity tag is added to an anime on this site. Oh look, this anime has a ninety percent nudity tag! Nope, it's full of steam with no uncensored version.
