That's a very fair opinion

I watched Hidamari Sketch, Yuru Camp, Aria and even Senko-san and I still liked them, tho.

There are good iyashikei, there are bad iyashikei. Clannad, for me, is a bad one.

I found it sincerely boring, unfunny, cringy, upsetting for many wrong narrative choices and not as philosophical or deep as its fandom depicts it.

There are actually very good parts in both the first series and After Story - i still love what the fisrt arc of the first series and the last story arc of AS teach and how direction and photography represent them with the right pacing and sensibility- but then the writers ruined them by adding some cringy deus-ex machina that imho destroyed everything well built until them.

So yeah, I just can't.

The first time I did a mal profile in 2018 I had more or less 240 anime on list that took me like...6 years?
However, I recently reached 780 since then (4th september 2018), so in almost 3 years i watched something like 540 anime series

I think someone's a fan simply by becoming interested in the topic and actually making some research on the the latter

Action anime lack innovation of their tropes
Mecha lacks of creativity and imagination in their most new heirs' narrative structures
Ecchi anime are all the f*cking same and so it's romcom
Horrors are only edgy and do not truly bring fear or dread
