While not directly referencing this specific instance, it is public knowledge that this is done, per this post from the AniList account.

I agree it's stupid and absolutely ridiculous that it's only covered in the untranslated Break Times for anime-onlys despite it being revealed relatively early in the source material, but it would still be considered a spoiler for anime-onlys. It's a spoiler. Your post was edited to properly include spoiler tags. The foreshadowing wasn't super subtle sure, but given Crunchyroll's abysmal translation and the vagueness of the dialogue itself, it's not obvious enough to not be considered a spoiler.
