It's a worse Higurashi with horrific pacing and a ton of gratuitous fanservice. Five episodes was plenty (and the five, an average score, was generous on my part).

Not sure what that has to do with this series though.

While not bad, I'm feeling kind of ambivalent about the whole production here at the end. I think Guideau's continuous antagonism and impulsiveness is the cause, as the Necromancer arc ended up being the most entertaining.

The weakest of the seasons so far.

The 'special' exam that comes out of nowhere is just drama for drama's sake and there's not really anything the Anime can do to improve upon the source (as it did with some of the earlier nonsensical events). The increased level of harem content early season is also an issue.

That said, the results are still quite entertaining even if the first two-thirds are lacking.

It never ceases to amaze me how non-action focused series tend to contain the best combat animation.

This series turned out to be a wonderful mix of daily life, relatively subtle comedy, and, yes, fantastic action scenes.

Certainly better than I'd thought it be based on all the hype (anything that gets hyped to that extent is almost invariably disappointing).

Not many battle shounens out there with antihero protagonists, so I'd pretty glad this turned out so well.

A surprisingly solid finish after the previous two tryhard episodes.

I continue to be amazed at how effectively this work improves upon the source material.

Usually with adaptations the best you can hope for is to have the more problematic aspects get skipped (which tends to result in screwed-up pacing), yet this manages to improve upon what it does choose to include while simultaneously excising the worst of Ayanokouji's garbage personality traits.

Depends. In the light novel the protagonist is a pathetic, whiny, perverted scumbag.

In the Anime that characterization is completely altered by removing most of his internal dialog. The end result, for me at least, was that the LN ended up disgustingly unreadable.

The animation was a bit of an issue, yeah, but I'd say the bigger problem was that there wasn't really much conflict. Gabriel was just a wet noodle and the afro guy didn't do anything of note.

Still a fun series, but definitely a step down from link the prequel.

While this last arc is pretty disappointing (destroying the Kingdom was pointless/random), overall this is probably the best of the Overlord seasons so far.

While the fact this season focused on dungeon delving was a definite plus, Bell's abject stupidity in this last arc ends up pretty damning.

You do not, under any circumstances, allow murderous madmen to live. Especially ones with bizarrely overpowered monster taming abilities.

The garbage protagonist holds back what would otherwise be a pretty great multi-genre series.

It still ends up pretty good, with on-point action and drama... but he's a real trashfire.

While there were a bunch of annoying parts (like the whole cover-up, Chisato's occasionally self-destructive non-lethal obsession, and her demands that Takina dress more girly), the show as a whole ended up wonderfully entertaining.

Sort of like the inverse of link Virgin Road, where I liked the parts but not the whole.

If they can combine the adaptation quality of the first season with the technical quality of the second they just may end up with something pretty decent.

Personally though, considering the timeframe, it will likely just be a continuation of the 2nd season's style of passable animation quality pared with mangled event development.

I'm not sure why exactly I didn't like this series.

By all rights I should have liked it (solid animation, fun characters, some rather uncommon/rare plot twists)... and yet... there's just something about it that doesn't gel.

This turned out surprisingly decent. Sure the animation quality leaves much to be desired, but the characters are a lot of fun.

In contrast to far too many series to count, this one actually gets better as it progresses. That said, being a random gag comedy some segments just end up as flat-out misses.

While I won't deny that it would've been perfect had he actually died to save the demons' world, instead of this new lease on life thing that just feels designed to drag the story out, the end result is still one of the most well-done 'overpowered protagonist' shows in some time.

A shockingly perfect ending to an uncommonly consistent season. There were still a few misses scattered about, but over all this ended up a pretty great romantic comedy.

While I wasn't a huge fan of link the first season at least it had consistent direction.

This one, by contrast, comes across as aimless and meandering. The whole first half is basically the equivalent of a 2-hour filler movie.
