I'd wager that this is a bit more worthwhile than the first episode and I find the newly revealed structure of the show to be interesting, but we've [apparently?] only got one episode left and so far this show is a whole lot of nothing (or at least more of nothing than something).
I will say that my big complaints about this being too much of a remake of the first show have flown out the window, but I don't think what we're left with is much better.
I loved FLCL: Alternative. I've given FLCL: Progressive a lot of (well deserved crap), but I'm certainly not opposed to the idea of more seasons of FLCL. I was excited when this was announced and even the original teaser a year and a half or whatever back looked good. I liked the CGI in that short little bit.
And yet, outside of a few very specific gags, I had a miserable time from start to finish. Everything here just feels like an AI recreation of the original in lesser quality. One of my big qualms of Progressive is that it misunderstood the original and just clung onto the "robots and wacky!" elements and that seems to be operating in overdrive here to the point where that series seems great in comparison. I saw moments of originality and promise in that first episode that are entirely absent here.
Still holding out hope for Shoegaze, but man.
I'm going to suggest something that would be far too complicated for a bunch of different reasons but hey, why not?
Letterboxd, a very similar tracking site geared towards cinema recently implemented a new feature that allows users to customize their poster/cover image settings. You can read all about it here, but the short is that it works like this:
There's a database of selectable posters, and once I choose said poster, I will see that all across the site. There are a few different options, but the way they do it is that the default option is that someone else's choice will supersede my own when I am viewing the film on their profile or in their activity, but elsewhere I see my option/if they did not specifically choose an option, I will see mine.
(They have different settings where you can choose to see default posters no matter what or have your choices supersede EVERYONE else's choice on their profile, but the above is the default.)
I've seen lots of people on this site go "AHH, WHY DID THEY CHANGE X'S ARTWORK, AHHH WHY DID THEY CHANGE Y'S ARTWORK! NOW MY FAVORITES LOOK BAD!", so I think this suggestion that'll never be seriously considered could be a fun thing. The database ensures that you're not going to have the feed filled with a bunch of ridiculous troll/NSFW posters, and I think people would have a blast.
Cosmo Samurai Season 2 has been completed and the credits are finally available at the end of this episode: https://youtu.be/HfRYlzTXaAU.
I made an entry about a month ago, and I suspect it hasn't been accepted because there was no credit information at the time.
