This anime truly feels like a good marketing for the source material. I think that some story beats could have bigger impact with better directing, background music or just animation. The story itself may just feel incoherent, because of speed-running, but i didn't read the source material, so I can't say for certain.
I think others still focus too much on the MC. The show is trying to tell the story of the world, which doesn't exist solely for the MC to show how cool he is, but has it's own events unfold. But this all falls flat, if in the back of your mind, there is a simple solution of overpowered MC solving everything. This show would be just a bit better, if MC actually wasn't in it.
You are right, this series should be about nation building, but this is just not the right way. Half of the meetings, where they speak about not so distant future plans like festival planning could be replaced by actually walking around the festival and showing thinks in "action", if they just talk about future plans, it just doesn't have the same weight.
The only problem with this I have is that everyone is talking in such a round about way, just so that he doesn't get, what actually happened. If the king just said "we have to reward someone, who has slain the mighty minotaur who even imperial knights couldn't " it wouldn't be so painful to watch how clueless he is.
I would say that she was in such a bad mental state, that she just couldn't think rationally. Her whole life was devastated, her lover was murdered before her eyes (supposedly) and Her only remaining reason to live meant nothing afterwards. The thought of having something with any meaning must have made her overjoyed, so much so, that she didn't even question the "logistics" of it.
For an anime about high politics, the LEADER doesn't know how to talk when it is needed. He builds a nation, conquers another nation, but still can't say, oooh there may have been a misunderstanding like in a high school romance. Lazy writing just so one fight can happen and even the fight was underwhelming.
I mean releasing this in the same season as Shangrila frontier was a mistake. In one other players are thinking as normal human beings, whereas here? Not even player who might want to grind have potion creation skill and there was no rival player trying to sell on bigger scale. Apparently there is not a single player using head.
Ok, Keitaro was really annoying me this episode. They talk about the stories of the ghost and when it happens literally few minutes later, he just says he is seeing things and not even saying anything to the others. I don't get why is he still acting like every encounter with the supernatural is his first.
